Well now, I never expected Lame Toro to be beating Phoenix.

I prefer Toro over Phoenix. True, for its size Phoenix has a lot of airtime, which is great because you only have buzzbars. But that's also where it stops. El Toro has crazy airtime, an insane drop, some good positives and the ride is more diverse. If only Toro had some lats, buzzbars and a mountainside.

^^I have no idea what you're even talking about at all. If it beats Pheonix, that means more people enjoyed Toro more than it...Simple as that...

Uh I like like 10 wood coasters....not sure how that makes me a fanboy. I like a few steels too.

I do actually like the pullout of MFs drop, that was probably my favorite part of the ride (I did think that part was really forceful). I don't care for the pull over of the drop though because its so long, by the time it is at it's steepest point its already pulling out.

Edit: whatever, I'm a hypocrite, 9 times out of 10 I will go to the wood ride over the steel one. Still think Cedar Point is over rated and still think traditional wood rides are much more fun than steel rides.

Fine Jay, please explain to me how enjoying El Toro over Pheonix makes you a fanboy.

It's not worth asking him, he'll make something up that won't make any sense and try to play it off. Though of course I agree with him; I mean, it's obvious El Toro isn't made of wood. Because that makes sense.......

It's made of as much or more wood than any other wooden coaster...and all wooden coasters nowadays are made using computers. It's just cut differently...and nothing about the word "wooden" says it must be cut by hand. Still a dumb argument, and I still don't understand it.

IMO, there's more to a wooden coaster than the material it's made out of. There's a raw grittiness to it, something about how with all the technological advances coaster design has had you still have ride that is built out of a stack of wood on site, a train that is no where near tight to the rails and fights it's way through a track (and leaves you with the constant thought of wondering whether it's supposed to do that or not), and just an overall out of control type ride. I haven't ridden any of the Intamins so I wouldn't know for sure if they take that away, but solely based on looking at pics, it's pretty clear to see that the Intamins don't quite represent that. Nylon wheels tight to the tracks, perfect shaping, etc. To me, that is just wood for the sake of aesthetics/"being" a wood coaster, not delivering the traditional "wood coaster" ride experience. Again though, haven't ridden one.

Yeah, that's what I meant by Toro isn't a true wooden coaster. There is a major difference between any other wooden coasters and Intamin prefab - although it's still wood, the experience is completely different. I don't know what else there is to get though dcs, just that riding prefabs doesn't make you a fanboy, haha. Or that's at least all I was saying.

Yes, it's not traditional...that argument makes sense. And of course, it's perfectly acceptable to prefer more traditional wooden coaster experiences. To say it's not a "true wooden coaster" just doesn't make sense, so I'm glad you clarified your meaning.

I will say that the slam into the 2nd camelback and hill over RT do not at all feel "controlled by a computer" as you've described some steel rides. You can feel the space between the track and wheels, and it is literally a slam, especially when the ride warms up. The transition between say .7 g's and -1.4 is almost imperceptibly fast...basically you're in your seat, then you hit that lapbar hard, with nothing in between.

^RT? I really hope you meant ET, because that park's RT is one of the most boring wood coasters in the world...

And yes, RT is in my bottom 2 roller coasters, along with the painful and almost equally boring Hercules.
