Pop really is awful for you and has loads of side effects, I completely gave it up about 9 months ago, haven't drank a sip since.
Chilled Green Tea is my drink of choice, whereas I consider water more of a necessity rather a drink. Your body needs a lot of water, like half a gallon a day for proper health. So I stock up on spring water and keep it in the garage, otherwise I drink juices, smoothies, and green tea. And, just saying, but I feel great, much better than the crappy slug I felt like before I stopped drinking sodas.
