Having had practiced with Newton for several months, I had begun to realize that it doesn't have enough control for what I wanted to do. So I had read on some forum page that Newton uses many features of FVDs, and that FVD's give you complete control of your coaster. I tried FVD eFormulas, and at first they seemed extremely difficult to use. After a while I began to love what I hated, and now I have a fair understanding of Force Vector Designs. [:D]

FVD users only- tell me what you like most about FVD's and the biggest problem you have with it, and how you fix such problems.

Non FVD users- tell me why you do not use FVD's and if you have tried them or not.

I have tried them on more than several occasions and still just do not understand them. It's been a long while though so I think I may be giving FVD's another shot soon.

The biggest problem I have with fvd's, is sticking to my layout plan that I have for a ride. I get these spur of the moment ideas and switch, and usually just wing it from there.

I like the way you can basically shape your elements any way you want, just the way you like it.

When I first started FVDs though I had issues learning the banking system, which is relevantly easy once you get the hang of it.

Like: great control over shaping, uber-smooth elements, fantastic for hypercoasters.

Dislike: really hard to make looping inversions, can't control lateral g's, split time zones hard to keep track of, formula not long enough.

I think that is one of the best parts of FVD. It allows for extreme personalization and realism. Plus, it's not that hard to go add up some numbers.

You misunderstood. I love the split time zones, and use them on just about every FVD element I make. I just hate having to keep track of them. I do a lot of finite modifications, so it gets complicated quickly. I just wish there was some way to visually represent where the time zones are on the rendered track.

I understand what you meant, but honestly, it's not too bad...if you need to, just copy your time zones and banking zones into notepad and then look around in elementary. It shouldn't be hard to find where each banking zone/time zone occurs if you are familiar with what you are doing.

I have a pretty good understanding of the formulas in general, however I just have had a bit of trouble on some elements with the banking. There are just some times when I have to remake the element a few times to get the desired result. But hey, I'm new to this and should be able to figure it out over time.

Yeah Supercell, it gets easier as you go. Soon you'll get what you want on the 3rd or 4th try instead of later in the process.

Yeah you definitely get a "feel" for what times you need.
