I'm starting a terrain woodie, and whenever I select anything other than the simple support structure, the lateral bracing goes all the way to "sea level" and ignores the terrain that I put in as if it were not really there. This has been annoying me for forever, and I only want to do custom lateral bracing where I need to, not on the entire length of what could be a 2+ mile wooden coaster.

This has been known for years. Nothing new and nothing you can do to avoid it short of cleaning it up manually. That said, a 2 mile long coaster is dumb.

- Airtime on virtually every hill, and on almost all of those hills the strength of said airtime will be in the -1.2 to -1.4 range, with all forces falling within legal G force limits (I found the charts)

- 267 foot triple drop down the bottom of a canyon

- 400+foot drop off the side of said canyon (don't know the exact height; I just finished the terrain and I'm just starting the track)

-At least two lifts will be used, possibly three.

- The land being used is a recreation of Treman State Park in Ithaca, NY (the reason why Ithaca is famous for its gorges.) The topography was imported from Google Earth into Google Sketchup, saved as a .3ds file, inserted into the editor, and literally a month of work was spent on dragging up each tile in the editor--every single one of them--to "fit" the .3ds file of the terrain. The terrain import from Google Earth wasn't exactly perfect, but that's because Google Earth doesn't cost thousands of dollars.

-This template will soon be uploaded to the contest forum for approval as an unofficial contest (in fact, I'll probably do that now.)

- I'm using Newton. This is going to be built in the style of the fantasy NL coasters of old, but with the technical finesse of Newton 2, thus able to perfectly create a smooth, yet incredibly exciting ride.



Fantasy coaster? Yup. Dumb? I'd like to disagree.

It's an unrealistic stupidly wrong ride that has been done many times before. Try making a ride that actually follows a real style, since that's actually challenging and few can pull it off competently. Your -1.2 to -1.4 proves my point.

Even fewer can pull off a GOOD fantasy coaster. Metazoan's Lightcycles is one of the only decent ones I've seen in years.

I will never follow a real style ride because that severely limits the amount of elements I am allowed to do. That means if I wanted to make a B&M Invert, I *HAVE* to have a loop, Zero G Roll, Immelmann, Cobra Roll, and a couple of wing overs, almost guaranteed in that order. It's so boring, so mundane, and frankly, lazy. I don't see any love put into those designs. I only see a bleak paradigm that should do a reversal.


I have never done a fantasy coaster like this before, due to my previous lack of skill. But for an added effect of realism, I recreated the Treman State Park gorges, because I always wondered what it would be like to build a massively long terrain coaster, like the ancient Timber Rattler made so many years back, but actually with some real airtime.

-1.2 to -1.4 unrealistic? Look at this: http://coastercrazy.com/news/g-force-lesson/35 Look at the "eyes up" chart. The legal limit is a tad over 4 seconds. I have only done two instances of airtime in my entire history of building NL with airtime lasting more than 2 seconds. And more than 3 seconds of airtime requires reduced positive G's for the element directly after said extended airtime. El Toro has airtime within that same range, but after riding it three times, that airtime is only achieved within the first half. In my opinion, the first half is the best part of the ride. Why can't that airtime be on every hill? If it would be too much airtime, then it would have been painful on all of the hills. Guess what? It's awesome on every hill. I just asked Intamin to see if I could get information on El Toro's G forces to see whether or not my claims are true but I decided to post this now and I will reply again later when I get a reply from them to either prove or disprove my claims.
