CoasterCrazy Awards(CCA)- 2008

Image
In this thread, the third round of the CCA??????s will run, where you will decide the best of the best in the amusement park industry (Number One Roller Coaster, Best New Ride of 2008, etc.) through a single elimination bracket!

In each round, a bracket will be made up. Each round will last five days until we get down to the final coaster/ride/etc, which will be entered into the CCA Hall of Fame for that year. (Because this is the first year, and it started late; we will be voting for 2008 winners until about March.)

The Current Round is: Best Steel Roller Coaster

Bracket Can Be Found By Clicking Here

Voting begins now to see who moves onto the next round. Select your choices from the pairs below, and make sure to check out the bracket above as well. After a final total of 2,859 votes in the first round this year, the winner won by only ONE vote, so every vote counts!

If you have any questions or comments regarding the awards, or would like to leave some input, please drop me a PM or leave a message here, it will be greatly appreciated.

Next Round to take place will be: ??????Best Theme Park ?????? 2008,?????? and the year will be finished with ??????Best New Ride of 2008.?????? The next year will begin sometime in May/June or afterward. There will be a break during the first week of April for the spring.

Notice!
Because of the ??????unreasonable odds?????? mentioned by many, from now on, there will be a way for coasters that have been voted out, to re-enter later in the tournament. If you take a peek at the bracket. You will see two spots labeled ??????TBA?????? in the final eight. From roller coasters eliminated earlier in the tournament, two will re-enter the competition at the final eight spot. Members will be able vote for the two coasters they want to re-enter the competition, this will take place later in the tournament.

This voting will only last one day, and take place between the ending of the third voting set, and beginning of the fourth voting set.

Tatsu versus Goliath? That just seems like a weird pair-up. While there aren't many more good flying coasters to compare it to, it still seems like it could have been matched against something than a hyper coaster.

EDIT: For example, Goliath at La Ronde versus Goliath at SFOG, and Tatsu versus X2? Well, no matter now, just a thought.

Dude, eventually each coaster will get a weird pair-up sooner or later. It is inevitable, only the best coaster will win, so either Tatsu beats Goliath in round 1 or in round 3, doesn't matter at all.

It pleases me very greatly that Piraten is beating G(r)iffon.

You're the one that paired it up against Tatsu (I'm sorry, I mean TASTU according to you [;)]). Doesn't surprise me in the least bit.

Darn I wish I could just go through these and post all the spelling errors [lol]

Haha^ I did good the last two rounds after the last bad spelling round. This round I didn't have anything to copy/paste the names from and I screwed up again, ugh.

^Well I know everyone's been over this and back a hundred times but you gotta keep in mind that there will always be a small percentage of COMPLETE INACCURACY considering that no one voting here has been on both rides being matched up in every pair.

So even though Griffon has more votes than Piraten, it's most likely just because more people have been on Griffon than Piraten.

BTW why is it that all of these add up to 99%? Lol (sorry if it was already discussed, haven't been following this).

Haha, because it takes the average and rounds them. If you do it out on a calculator, sometimes it just happens that a vote is lost while rounding.

Cannot believe Katun is losing by so incredibly much. I was excpecting it to be the complete opposite.

Aww. How is Incredible Hulk losing? B&M launch into barrel roll is way better than Maverick's launch into banked turn just to have brakes slow you down.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

^ What about the rest of the rice though. Hulk is awesome and intense but Maverick is more intense by the looks of it, and it's got sweet overbanks and things. It's not all about the launch...

Well, the roll at the beginning of Hulk is actually one of the best parts of any coaster anywhere IMO, but the rest of Maverick completely rapes it. Haha, guess that pretty much explains why it's losing.

Agreed. I've ridden both coasters and imo is katun better than black mamba. BM is awesome because of the big amount of theming around the ride. But katun is better with forces and stuff. [pshades]

But there's such a ridiculous amount of Cedar Point Fanboys, who knows. Anyone who seems to live near there thinks even the worst ride is better than anything else in the world, lol.
