Does anyone know the origin of the name euro-fighter as it pertains to it's namesake coaster type ? It seems a bit strange since a modern euro-fighter warplane could never perform some of the maneuvers that the coaster does.

in what way could it not perform those manoeuvres? In the way that it's travelling 600 or so mph faster than the coaster [lol] and pulling 9g's instead of 4? The fact is, the plane can and does pull those very same manoeuvers much faster in less of a time and such obviously achieving higher g's..... winner!

The name I believe comes from the fact that the Eurofighter plane takes off vertically, much like the Harrier Jump Jet. And the Euro Fighter Coaster has it's lift hills vertically, so I guess they just linked the names together.

nope gouldy was right, the euro-fighter cannot take off like a harrier jump jet however there is a rig on certain airbases that has been tested to launch it like a rocket. it can make much more spectacular manuvers than the coasters can and pull uch higher G-forces and more importantly like the coaster the jet does it effortlessly and smoothly.

and however give me a good reason why it shouldent be named after the best fiter jet in the world?

How many mile does it take to actually accomplish these maneuvers. Modern fighers doing loops, oh please. Have any of you actually kept up with technology. If you want a fighter that can actually perform these maneuvers in a tight area, you need to go back to 1916 to 1918. If you want a euro-figher coaster to be realistic to the actual jet, perhaps the coaster should take up approxamately 30 to 50 square miles.

Absolutely correct Kevin. If you look at the Typhoons website, they even acknowledge the Raptor out performs it.

Uh...It's just a roller coaster guys, haha. Just because it's named after an airplane doesn't mean it's going to go miles into the air. It's obviously just named the Euro-Fighter because it generally does more crazy 'stunts' than most coaster types.

Maybe it should go 600 m.p.h. too? It's only the name of a roller coaster, geesh!

To the intellectually challanged, here's my point. Why not name it after a type of stunt plane, or just perhaps "Stunt Plane". Why would anyone in their right mind name an amusement park ride after a machine whose only purpose is death and destruction. It's only a ride; good lord man where's your sensibilities.

Perhaps you'd like a ride named the "P 52 Mustang", I'm sure it would bring back fond memories to the refugees who were strafed after the fire bombing of Dresden.

Excuse me, but just one more thing. My father worked for Wright Aeronautical during WW II. He was part of the team that disassembled captured German aircraft. He personally analized captured ME-109's. My father-in-law served during the war as a corporal in the SS. He served five years at hard labor after the war just because of the unit he was in. My brother-in-law served 25 years in the U.S. airforce and was stationed in England at a NATO base for much of that time. Warplanes are NOT amusing, ask anyone who's actually been associated with them. They're horrible inventions made nessesary by the basic evil streak that runs through mankind.

but kid, the F22 is American so you know full well that it will, firstly have an American piloting it which well... renders it useless, then it will automatically destroy everything within 200 miles that belongs to the same side, then it will fall to bits mid-flight after just 100 hours of flying time.

Oh, and what about the Coney Island Cyclone, huh? Do the people of Myanmar have an issue with that?

Most things at theme parks are named after death and destruction though aren't they? making things scary and such.

[lol][lol][lol] Oh my god kid you're almost making me pee my pants from laughing. No one cares about how the name of a roller coaster is breaking your heart. Not to mention it's just the TYPE name, not the name of any of their actual rides. Besides, Gerstlauer probably assumed if cry babies like you were unusually offended by the name they would just stay away from the ride?

OMG this topic is so freaking funny.
This is like the same discusion people have about: negerzoenen translation(niggerkiss) it's the dutch name for a chocolate-coated marshmallow.
Its called that way for ages now some people think its offensive.

{ontopic}
I don't see the connection of your father-in-law being a ss(german)corporal and a Eurofighter coaster.
SS was a paramilitary groundforce not a airforce{luftwaffen}.

OMG HAHAHAHAHAHA
ah man you i nearly crapped myself laughin', gouldy was brilliant but that topped it off, hehehe...

anyway, the thing about the maneuvers sounds about right to me, and come on, get real, what coaster (open to general public) would actually pull 9 Gs while going 600mph? none. because that's blackout within a few seconds for the average person, there IS such a thing as "scaling down/up" you jackass, also, zaphod? oh noes! you've been affected by war! WAHHH WAHHH, so have I, eedjit, doesn't mean you can rub it in peoples faces like you're special, and to actually think that it's a bad name to call a coaster because of that then you are a real dumbass. There are plenty of people with families who have been killed by falling rocks or rampaging bulls, does that mean we should tear down boulder dash or el toro? no. it doesn't, and if you can't live with that go suck a sheep off.

[lol]

And not to mention Zaphod uploaded a coaster called 'The Decapitator', as if he has NO sensitivity towards those who have been beheaded in our society.
