well, i think that the vekomas at my local park (elich gardens) are really cool. the boomerang that we have there is great, there is no headbanging on most of the ride. and the "mind eraser" (think T2) is great as well. there is no headbanging anymore because i think that they switched trains in the winter. BUT, we have an Arrow that isn't around anymore (i think that about four are left.) called sidewinder. no headbanging there at ALL. of course, all it does is launch, drop, loop, and go backwards.

in all, i think that vekoma and Arrow have bad reps because of the looseness of the trains in relation to the track. i love vekoma. i love arrow. simple as that.

BY THE WAY: i have ridden B&Ms before, and i think that they are cool and all, but i would choose arrow and vekoma any day.

sorry if there was a bump.

a coaster enthusiast that says they enjoy vekoma boomerangs is like a gourmet that says they like McDonalds.. it's a contradiction, but i guess it's possible..

Actually I always enjoyed boomerangs unlike alot of people and I'm going to Carowinds next summer and I rode it at Geauga and it's the smoothest one I have been on so I'd love to see how it is with the new trains.

Yeah the boomerang at lake compounce is awsome. Its smooth and the best colors on any coasters ever. The trains are IRRIDESCENT! That looks great on a vekoma boomerang.

I ride it every time I go. It really isn't that bad.

Everyone saying they're rough.....grow a pair. They aren't that bad. I have ridden plenty of Intamins and B&Ms and I still don't find Vekomas (or Arrows) that rough.

geez, can't vekoma build something different for once, i know it's being relocated, but really... i'm sick of the same freaking design being cloned over and over...

It's a marketable, low maintenance, somewhat high capacity coaster that is unique to it's market. 99% of the people who ride this won't know that there are many others like it, so I don't see what the big deal is here. I can't help but keep coming back to people here only hating on Vekoma because it's the thing to do. If you really look at it from a business sense this is a pretty smart move. The park doesn't care what some 15 year old kid on a coaster forum thinks about it, they care what they can market as a unique attraction that might help draw attendance, and this will do just that.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 9, 2009) ????????? Carowinds, the 112-acre amusement and water park, and The Make-A-Wish Foundation????????? of Central & Western North Carolina are partnering together for Ride for Wishes. Carowinds hopes to be able to grant wishes for Make-A-Wish children with life threatening illnesses by donating the first public ride on the park's new roller coaster, Carolina Cobra, as an auction item for the charity.

Make-A-Wish is currently auctioning off 28-seats of the first train to run on Carolina Cobra on opening day, March 28, 2009. The 28 highest bidders will receive free admission into the park for themselves and a guest, early entry at 9:30 a.m., and the opportunity to be part of the first public ride on Carolina Cobra.

Those wishing to bid for the opportunity to be part of the first public ride on Carolina Cobra may do so online at www.ncwish.org or ncrideforwishes.kintera.org. The highest bidder will be given their choice of the seats available, then the second highest bidder will choose from the remaining seats, and so on. The bidding starts at $50 per seat. All bidders who plan to ride must meet the height and safety requirements for the ride (at least 48" tall). The auction will close at noon on Wednesday, March 24.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Central and Western North Carolina chapter was founded in 1985 and has granted over 2,200 wishes. The chapter covers the state from Alamance County west.

Carowinds is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "FUN." In addition to Carowinds, Cedar Fair owns and operates ten other amusement parks, six water parks, one indoor water park resort, and five hotels. Cedar Fair also operates the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy, CA under a management contract.

Lol! I hope people know WHAT they are voting for. Or they will be thourougly dissapointed. It's already been rode by millions too, LOL. At least it's for a good cause though.

I can't believe Carowinds is making such a big deal about a used boomerang. It would be like a new Burger King opening up and advertising as unique gourmet food, Then holing an auction just so people can be the first to eat at a new Burger King. It doesn't make sense.

Its new for them so I dont see what the big deal is. Our Voodoo/Possessed was used and Dorney made a big deal of it. We know its used but the GP dosent. Can you guess what it would sound like if CW said it was a used ride?

There's like 5 of those rides, there's like 100 boomerangs.

There is virtually no head banging in the middle parts of the train. Plus, its bigger than some others ive been on. And i love going up the towers waiting to be dropped, especially backwards[:D].

Its for charity. I dont get what you guys are moaning about? People will only bid if they want too, and its going to a good cause, so whats the problem?
