I agree in all fairness, the ride type just doesn't look right with the supports that way does it?

Adrenaguy: I will be releasing the X-Car I hope, but it is only a side "distraction project" from this one, to keep me from going mental 8-) so it won't be properly ready until after this one, even though it is already about 65% complete, where as this thing is languishing at like the bottom of my to do list [lol]

Practice.

I think I'm the only person on this site that for the most part does things by hand. Practice practice practice!

at first I didn't notice the different colored bases but after reading the topic I looked back and it indeed does look a little odd.

The new screen shot looks great tho. I can't wait to see the finished product.

I was hoping that everyone would understand exactly what I meant, but I guess that didn't happen. Yes, there are a few B&M's that have differently colored lift supports than the supports for the rest of the ride, but there are none that have a differently colored base like Gouldy has in his screens. The entire support from top to bottom should be one color.

just cause the coloring hasnt been done like that on a B&M before, doesnt mean he cant. its called originality man.

EDIT: are people seriously complaining about those bases being colored differently??? i think it looks fine, but oh well, as long as you guys dont down rate for colors, everything will be fine.

looks great btw. cant wait to see it!

I actually think that color change looks good. It adds more flavor, and it show that you take your time.

Jensen - if a color scheme is bad enough, yes I will rate down. In most cases it only adds points, not takes away when I rate. but if the choice of colors has no meaning, doesnt work with the ride or is just plain bad - yes, it can take away points. Why not? A coaster cant just function well. To be an elite ride it still has to have ascetic beauty.

I agree real, some people really blow at picking colors, BUT, I do not agree that people should down rate for different patterns of colors. For example, Intamins, in the real world, are always one color for the track, and a separate color for supports. the ties and rail color is always the same as the track color itself, however, if someone makes an Intamin with two different colors on the track, I wouldn't down rate for it. so in this instance, just because the footers are different colors, its no reason to down rate the ride. There is such a thing as originality...

yeah, i get what your saying real, but i was just trying to state that if he got down rated for having different colored footers, that would be dumb. aside from how bad the colors look(not saying his are bad, i like them) doing something like that should not affect the rate. if anything, it should go up rather then down for doing something different, lol.

Not if the different color footers sucked.

So what are you rating then? Are the colors, footers and supports all part of what make a coaster? Isn't the track too? 3ds?

Any part of a ride that contributes to either making the ride better or worse both technically and ascetically should be rated.

Not always is doing something different good. Hitler tried to do something different. Wanted Germany to rule the world. Not quite sure that was a good different.

As for vernturing off of Real Life - sure I never said anything against that. But if you choose lime green rails, bright pink trusses and sunshine yellow under rails - I will rate you down. Thats pathetic. (Im waiting for CWMK to do this lol )

Its all common sense. Thats why it shouldnt be an issue.

no no no, you made all good points there.
i do rate the overall ride, i think that track comes first though in a rate.
i just figured when everyone starting jumping on him for the supports, that thats what was going to happen. so im not disagreeing with you, just saying i figured some tards out would put a huge part of the rate on that. but yes, it is important to include those little things in rates. they can make or brake the ride.

I never would have thought asking the question "do people think this good or not?" would spark such a debate [lol].

Anyway, I think what I've decided to do is leave this particular feature off the supports on this one and work on it on the X-Car I mentioned earlier, as it certainly fits that ride type a lot better. [:)]

Honestly as far as colors go sometimes it's impossible to make a ride that looks good in real life look good in the simulator.

http://www.rcdb.com/ig1169.htm?picture=4

I always thought Anaconda before they painted the whole orange looked absolutely fantastic, but if you try and replicate that in the simulator, it fails pretty hardcore. Same principle kind of but not really works for Pyrenees as Pyrenees looks balls ugly after the brown paint faded.

http://www.rcdb.com/ig1227.htm?picture=3

And then you can throw all of this out the window by pointing out that Pax occasionally uses striped supports.

EDIT:
As far as the ride goes, it looks very neat, however I know I'm not going to like it since I am a realism buff and I feel like the Premier or X car track would be a better choice for this.

You can acheive those colors CK, you just gotta fidget with the skybox colors that the sun throws off and really tinker with the color on the support itself. I agree, both rides look great IRL. I love that original scheme on Anaconda.

UPDATE:

Not a massive great deal has happened, but I have done some trackwork over the last couple of days. The result of which can be seen in the final 5 pictures on the rides NLDC page, thus:

No idea even on a rough time when this might be on the exchagne, for I am a lazy bum! [:D]

UPDATE:

Pretty big update this time. The layout has once again completely changed! [lol] nah, all of what was there before is still there, only the lift and drop are different and the layout is actually now... complete!

I still need to fine tune the trackwork and make it all decent, some bits are a tad, erm... crap. But she certainly looks pretty!

I also put some thought into the name of the thing, being as I'm about to begin theming/supporting. I've had a couple of names in the locker for a while. One of them I think suits this ride nicely, and that's "Tsar", which is like a Russian dictator and also the name of a massive bomb that was tested some years ago [:)] type "tsar footage" in on youtube or something and you'll see [lol]. But yeah, any thoughts on that name?

Supporting this thing is making me go blind! [lol]

Thankfully, I like to plan this kind of thing and I had heavily considered the supporting when I was building each element (as I presume most people do), which has made supporting fairly straight forward but time consuming. I've supported all of the challenging parts first and I'm glad to now say that all of the difficult supports are done! [:D]

Anyway; I am now completely happy with the track itself, the layout works well and I've smoothed it pretty good, no yellow g's, no support hits, only minor tunnel to tunnel collisions. Only one concern that I have had is the pacing in the vary last element is just on the shy side of decent, but I'm certain that the closeness to all the supports in that area will sort that out!

Oh, and the name is now definitely "Tsar".
