Hi everyone! Many, many people have asked me how I make the 3ds signs you can find in several of my coasters. I've decided to offer my service to anyone who would like signs for their coasters. All I ask for in return is credit for the sign(s), and a *sneak peak. Thats it. If you'd like some signs made for you, then just simply either reply below, or private message me with this format:

1.Sign Text
2.Text Color(s)
3.Backround Color(s)**
4.Font style***
5.Email address (so i can send the sign to you)
6.Any other information (size, text spacing, etc.)

A sample screenshot of the sign will be sent to you by email for approval before i send the final 3ds file. I will try my best to change anything that you'd like to be fixed from the screenshot.

Samples

* If credit is not given, track will be reported. The sneak peak (screenshot of the coaster that hasn't been revealed to others) should be given before receving the sign, but is manditory before the coaster's uploading.

** Not all signs have backrounds (see "lettered signs" above) If you would like a sign like that, just put "lettered only" in the 3 space.

*** I have many, many font choices, including all the microsoft fonts, and many others. Most free downloadable font found online can be used, but some may not work. If you'd like me to use a font you've found online, just put the link in the 4 space.

Font Resources:

(Downloadable free fonts from most sites are acceptable)

Don't Forget to check your email. I'll usually have a picture sent to you for approval in 1-3 days.

Though I don't need a sign right now, I would like to know what program you use to create them. My brother just got 3D Studio Max for his course at Uni and I had a shot at learning it but it's incredibly difficult and will probably take a good year or so to learn properly. If you happen to have an easier to use program that would be fantastic. Also, nice idea for making signs. I can see this being popular and I'll be sure to contact you if I need anything. Thanks.

As far as I'm concerned, it's free. It costs nothing to type in a few words, and theres no cost for taking a screenshot. So technically, yes it's free. No need to debate that matter.

As far as the program goes, i'm keeping that a trade secret.

Cool. Right now I'm working on Tropical Tornado, so if you want a sign now, It'll be a few days, but it depends on the complexity of the sign. They don't take long.

Haha, and in a different topic you said you used anim8or.[lol]

One downside of using anim8or's 3D text feature: Lot's of poly's. In some examples you use, it's just as easy to just add a simple texture to a Flat object. Same result, much less poly's. Ok, you won't be seeing popping out those letters, but I'd doubt 90% of the people who ride don't even notice that little effect.

Well, i have said which program I use in a million other posts already. Although anim8or has alot of polys, it has really good detail in the fonts, and I like how the signs turn out. And i dont find that any of these slow down my fps at all, which is good.

Oh and I wanted to keep the program a "trade secret" because I'd like to help others by making signs for them. And besides, although the program isnt hard, I can make much better signs than anyone who is a newbie at anim8or. So it saves people the time of learing the program.

On a small scale it doesn't matter. But if you use way too many of that stuff, It could slow drastically down. Also maybe you won't notice the slowing down yourself. But the people who have a less good computers DO notice the changes in speed. So it might be smart to think of the possible downloaders.

it has really good detail in the fonts

It has the same detail as using a simple texture. The only effect that could add is that it actually is 3d. But like i've said in my previous post: How many people are actually going to notice that all those signs are fully 3d and not just a texture. It's something you won't see in a blink of an eye.

Same story here, but than with anim8or itself:
Image
Open -> Text tool -> Extrude -> done. Less than 30 seconds.
Adding the cool curvature was 30 extra seconds, but that is a little more advanced option, I got to agree with that.

and you are talking about to learn the program, if you call that simple action already something hard to learn. Then you don't want to see the more advanced options from anim8or. [lol]

Oh, stop it. It's not a debate, it's a favor. You don't need to proove that you can do it too,im just offering the service. Who cares, my signs are apparently liked, so I decided to be nice, so stop thinking that there's a point to posting that random crap.

Now that everyone is doing this:

Blender: Added text, Converted to mesh, extrude, scaled to z axis and lastly placed the origin on a particular place to use the warp tool.
