Actually you can't call it swine flu becuase is a recombinant of Swine, bird and human flu.
This could mean 2 things:
1- the 3 different strains of virus got together in one single host and exchanged some gene's with each other.
2- maby this flu is the common ancestor of the swine, bird and human flu.

Personaly i'm thinking of option 1 becuase flu is known for exchanging gen's and forming a new strain of flu virus,

So bassicly they should call it the Mexican flu becuase thats the origin of the strain.
Like : spanish flu , Hongkong flu, the asian flu etc.

I don't think calling it the "Mexican Flu" would be considered as politically correct nowadays lol.

Sooo add Delaware as a possible state affected...ABC News was just at my school because there are 4 people with possible swine flu symptoms...awesome. If anyone saw us on the news, the girl they interviewed is one of my friends haha. Andddd they misspelled her last name lol. Well done action news.

But yeah...Cibolo and now maybe my college? Jakizle and I are screwed. lol

That graphic you have is hilariously terrible.

I see this as just a pretty typical flu strain that being blow out of proportion; it's not like the media ever does that.

Like 20 kids at my high school in Cibolo are sick from it (Byron P. Steele HS, we were/are on CNN). As a result I have no classes this week and possibly next week, and my work isn't allowed to let students work in the mean time, so I have a TON of free time.

This is getting way out of hand. If the USA and the incredibly inept W.H.O. is so concerned they need to close the borders, and quarantine individuals.

The only place where people are dying? poop holes. No offense, but have you been to Mexico City? Its dirty. No wonder that is where this originated.

This is the first disease ever that isn't situated and out of control in Africa OR Asia. Amazing.

the drug companies invented it and gave it to the mexicans, then being as mexicans are everywhere, the disease spreads like wildfire and then we all have to pay for the drugs, loads of money for the drug companies, woo!

Far more people die from the normal flu, plus this swine flu is mild and is easily curable.

Mexicans are dying because of their crappy health care. Nothing to see, move along folks.

Ebola = GLOBAL PANDEMIC!
SARS = GLOBAL PANDEMIC!
Drug-resistant TB = GLOBAL PANDEMIC!
Bird Flu = GLOBAL PANDEMIC!
Swine Flu = GLOBAL PANDEMIC!

Egypt orders slaughter of all pigs over swine flu

CAIRO ????????? Egypt began slaughtering the roughly 300,000 pigs in the country Wednesday as a precautionary measure against the spread of swine flu even though no cases have been reported here yet, the Health Ministry said.

The move immediately provoked resistance from pig farmers. At one large pig farming center just north of Cairo, farmers refused to cooperate with Health Ministry workers who came to slaughter the animals and the workers left without carrying out the government order.

"It has been decided to immediately start slaughtering all the pigs in Egypt using the full capacity of the country's slaughterhouses," Health Minister Hatem el-Gabaly told reporters after a Cabinet meeting with President Hosni Mubarak.

Egypt's overwhelmingly Muslim population does not eat pork due to religious restrictions. But the animals are raised and consumed by the Christian minority, which some estimates put at 10 percent of the population.

Health Ministry spokesman Abdel Rahman estimated there were between 300,000-350,000 pigs in Egypt.

Agriculture Minister Amin Abaza told reporters that farmers would be allowed to sell the pork meat so there would be no need for compensation.

In 2008, following fears over diseases spread by animals, Mubarak ordered all pig and chicken farms moved out of population areas. But the order was never implemented.

Pigs can be found in many places around Muslim world, often raised by religious minorities who can eat pork. But they are banned entirely in some Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Libya.

In Jordan, the government decided Wednesday to shut down the country's five pig farms, involving 800 animals, for violating public health safety regulations.

hmmmmmm bye bye piggy!

WASHINGTON ????????? Virulent swine flu swept deeper into Europe Wednesday, extending its global reach as President Barack Obama mourned the first U.S. death, a Mexican toddler in Texas, and said wider school closings in the United States may be necessary. Total U.S. cases surged to nearly 100.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was questioned closely by senators at a hearing in Washington about whether the U.S. should close its border with Mexico, where the outbreak apparently began and the casualties have been the greatest. She repeated the administration's position that "passive surveillance" of U.S. land and seaports was sufficient for now and said closing borders "has not been merited by the facts."

Still, she said the disease has spread to four more states and 91 cases now have been confirmed.

In a possible outbreak north of the Mexican border, the commandant of the Marine Corps said a Marine lieutenant in southern California might have the illness and 39 Marines were being confined at the Twentynine Palms base until tests come back.

In Washington, Obama said he wanted to extend "my thoughts and prayers" to the family of a nearly two-year-old Mexican boy who died in Houston, the first confirmed U.S. fatality among more than five dozen infections. Health officials in Texas said the child had traveled with his family from Mexico, to Brownsville on April 4 and was brought to Houston after becoming ill. He died Monday night.

"This is obviously a serious situation," and "we are closely and continuously monitoring" it, Obama said of the spreading illness.

There is nothing wrong with calling something or someone Mexican. Would you be offended if someone called you American? I didn't think so. It's just a nationality, I don't see what the big deal is.

To be honest I think the media has gone a bit overboard. Err on the side of caution but still. The deaths in Mexico could propbably be attributed to the flu weakening the immune system and letting other nasties do their work surely?

Has anyone noticed the majority of the deaths are young and then old, rather than teens to 50's or so?

How is that a cheap attempt? If anything it's a good attempt to be politically correct and get the ignorance out of America.

FDA better get some half-ass vaccinations ready and sell them for $10,000 a pop!

Yay! Our economy's sick ideas always prevail.
Meh, I was listening to a discussion today on the radio about how it could have possibly been man-made?
