Or, perhaps a general B&M question. Anyone know if these new trains are going to be the norm on their hypers from now on? (The v-shaped, like on Diamondback and Behemoth) I haven't gotten on either of them, but I'm not totally sure how I feel about them, frankly!

I, personally like the new trains better. Since they are longer, you tend to get more airtime in the front and back as well. I got more airtime on the backseat of Diamondback that on any other B&M hyper I've been on. Also they feel (and are, of course) more open and free, you don't have anyone or anything next to you, its nice.

The new ones give much better views and freedom.

Actually, I think the stadium seating is a waste after the front seat. You could get so many more riders per hour it's not even funny!

^Actually all seats give the same view and freedom. And the traditional trains only had a capacity of 4 more people so the difference is negligible.

^ Four more people per car! So that's about 28 people if it has 7 cars, not sure how many cars it has.

I would guess they would size up the track for that, but who knows!

I like the old trains more because they give airtime across an entire hill instead of of having it concentrated on one side of it. Also the first drops on the new trains in the front row look a lot less scary with the longer trains because they drag so much.

Where is the best place to ride on the train? I'm going to King's Island soon and I'm going to ride Diamondback for the first time, where would you suggest to ride?

^Don't you have common sense? ALWAYS ride a B&M hyper in the back.

^^Good luck picking your seat, when I was there on a random Tuesday I was NOT allowed to pick my seat and therefore was stuck with a middle of the train ride.

Middle of the train on Diamondback was one of the lamest rides Ive ever had. Virtually no airtime (due to the train slowing down as we crested and then not picking up enough speed as exited) and it is trimmed.

I was severely disappointed and I will be writing a letter of discontent for the planned seating. Cedar Point tried this crap with MF and it failed miserably. They took so much time assigning seats that they stacked 3 train operation like it was their JOB. The train comes off the water splash into the brakes and sits for around 30-45 seconds. Dead stop. Sometimes longer. Why? Because the ride ops assigning seats just arent fast enough.

I know i know, the idea is if you get full trains your RPH goes up. But how can your RPH go up if you dispatch fewer TRAINS?!!@#!@$$@ IDIOTS. Id take 1-3 less per train but get 4 or 5 more trains per hour. That makes a whole lot more sense. Plus, I know people who are fearful of riding front or back - so if you stick them there, their experience will suck as well as they ride somewhere they didnt.

It makes more sense to let people fill in to maybe 2 or 3 trains deep and fill in the gaps with the single rider line as needed. Youll do more trains per hour which will equal more riders per hour.

If you cant tell, I had a crummy time. And Im going back for more punishment on the 26th and 27th. Im hoping a front or back seat ride will deliver a much more satisfying experience but even my girlfriend whos not a coaster buff, but rides anything and everything commented it was just "meh".

I couldnt agree more.

Kings island has the same problem with backlot (was italian job) where the ride sits a long time while they figure out who sits where.

I think this new V-style will become more common, but I bet the 4 across will still be an option.

By the way, the V-style seating on diamondback is awesome... It is different.

I really did like the new trains. Even on the outside seats you don't feel like you're separated from the person across from you or anything, not like Deja Vu.

That being said, Real is right about the assigned seating. The ride isn't really anything special in the middle, and the only reason I got a back seat ride at all was because the ride went down for rain and they let everyone in line come into the station. That meant we could head straight to the back and then had to wait about 5 or 6 trains once the ride opened again.
