Hybrid Woodies

this is for the people who knows how to make hybrid steel structures for woodies.

How do you make the supports steel but keep the track wooden?
I've tried selecting the supports then transfering them into the I-beam support.
*For ex./ i want my structure of the track to look like Hades, Voyage, etc.
if you dont understand what im talking about.

pics? I think I know what you are talking about, my suggestion is to re select the "track-portion" of the ride and transform them into wooden beams like before...

if you're using auto-supports, then once they're in place, just go to edit, select all, double click on any beam, and when the panel comes up, select the type of beam you want them to become.

That would take far too long.

Try to keep up...

Here's what you do, you click the auto-supports (or press Ctrl+R)
Click "Generate Final", then unselect "Catwalks" and "Handrails".
Click "Ok".
Then right click, "Select all".
Then click on the L-beam.
Then go to supports, "transform selected beams".
Then you go back to the auto-supports.
Once again, click "Generate final".
Unselect "Clear previous structure".
Then select "Catwalks" and "Handrails" again.
And Unselect "Enable supports".
And click "Ok".

Also, you could:

*Auto generate the supports, without handrails and catwalks (meaning just the supports)

*Generate them, (you know, final product) then after, highlight the PLAIN supports, and make them L-beams.

*Go back to the auto-support generator, un-check "enable supports" and "widesupports" and check the "handrails" and "catwalks", uncheck "clear previous structure" then gen. final.

*Then catwalks and railings generate. Then, there you go, you got your steel supports and wooden extras!

Alot simpler method.

No that takes literally 5 seconds. You do it once and the whole coaster has metal supports. You have to select it all first, and it ALL changes. Duh.

But then you have steel catwalks, and that's now what he asked for.
Duh.

^You do the support structure first, then add in the catwalks.

Also, you don't want to use I beams for the support structure. Too big. Use those doubled up for crossover supports [;)]

I never said I beams.
I said L beams.

Do custom supports so it doesn't look like crap[:)]
