WTF Is this? Ive been hearing about it and it sounds like an industrial version of noLimits. Does anyone have any specs on this thing, or even if it exists?

I've never heard of NoLimits pro, but I do know many companies use enhanced versions of NoLimits. The voyage promo was in a super sized template. Companies such as Gerstlauer, Mohrer Shone, Vekoma, Coasterdynamix, etc have their own styles added to said enhanced versions, and are usually added to later versions of NoLimits (I hope this happens with Coaster Dynamix!).

S&S used NoLimits Pro for their simulated ride on Ring Racer, It's used by professional coaster design companies, which none of us are in, so don't worry about it, you will never get your hands on it.

It's not a program like we have. I believe it's ordered on a situation by situation basis as it's coded specifically for that job. In addition, it's only the simulator, not an editor like we use. It imports from AutoCAD as SFF said and I believe Solidworks. I think the only thing they have that any of us would find useful is the larger template, which really isn't a template at all, it's just rendering the CAD drawings. It may have some sort of friction editor but I doubt it, all the simulation videos we've seen react very similar to what we have now.

On the Diamond Back website (A ride at Kings Island) I saw a video that looked like it was made on NoLimits.

Yeah, Ring Racer used NL pro for it's simulation, Terminator and Diamondback used 3dsmax, and I didn't see any other sim's for any other new coaster.

Whats the point in have a simulator if you have to make the ride in a seperate program, only to have to re-configure it once more? And how come no ones made any add-ons to noLimits? I was reading through the NL help pages the other day cause wood magic was pissin me off, and it said that 3rd party add-ons might be available. So i was wondering, everyones made these programs(AHG, Newton, Elementary, and even FVD's etc.) So why not just take these tools, and combine them into the editor so that you dont have to hunt all over your hard drive to find them? And some more tools could be developed like a support-generator and things of the like. Just an idea though.

Because thats how it was done. Nobody really cares if you cant do that stuff in the editor since it would most likely take the same amount of time.

Ole hasn't released an SDK or API for Nolimits. So people don't know how to plug their programs into the Nolimits interface. The only reason woodmagic made it in was because Tia was on the development team and had access to the source code.

Okay park companies go to specific companies to get the animations of their rides done...

tl;dr history is the reason things are the way they are. This program hasn't been around since you've discovered it, its been available to the GP for 8 years.

I don't think vekoma would use a NL .5 to make a promo video for one of their rides. They just gave Ole permission to use the design since it's got a copyright on practicly every screw that's on the damn thing.
