So Lake Mead is disastrously low and isn't showing any signs of recovering soon They can't shut off the dam because "the monster" (LA) needs electricity, but Nevada will soon have a water crisis on their hands because their water supply stems from the lake.

I snapped this picture on my little research jaunt in the desert. Notice the white RV on the right for scale. The white line of carbonate is where the water level should be. Opinions?

I hope you meant isn't....

Anyways to further establish just how bad the lake situation actually is here is the old boat launch ramp at the campground I stayed at. The actual lake is around 1/4 mile to the left of the photo boundaries, and the little rocky outcrop in front of the large mountains in the background is approximately 20-25ft tall

Ya I am a big fan of Lake Powell and try to get there every year just to enjoy its beauty, and each year I go back it feels like a completely different place because the levels change so much. I think its on the upswing right now though.

So, nuke LA and problem is sorted. Also, many other birds will be killed with one giant, nuclear stone.

that tower makes me wanna cry. Its just so gently offset into the glow of the water, and the cliffs just whisper empathy and bond with the sky. GOD you should be a photographer.

Look into the soul of the frame. Its beauty will reveal itself to you, but only if you reveal yourself first.

Does your school not teach American history or something? That's one of 4 intake towers for Hoover Dam, which is what creates Lake Mead.

Also you can only stand in so many places around there to take a picture....

Not to mention one should wonder why there is a giant bridge coming from the lighthouse.

The youth of this nation terrify me. Someone who lives across the goddamned Atlantic can recognize American landmarks better than an American. Astounding.

Whats scarier was the situation in the Great Lakes the past 5-10 years. Water levels were also very low because the upper lakes (Superior and Huron) were not forming good ice packs during the winter. The ice packs hold in fresh water and keep it from evaporating into the atmosphere. So when the ice packs took longer to freeze and the water stayed warmer longer, more water evaporated. Lake Erie was 5-10ft lower than normal which you might compare to Lake Mead and think big deal. Well, Eries average depth is 45ft believe it or not. So thats almost a 25% decrease in the water levels. Entire boat ramps were unuseable. It finally got cold up there, held some water and its trickled down to us and were finally seeing the water levels get back to normal.

Low fresh water levels in our lakes is a SERIOUS problem. Considering how few good sources we actually have, I can sense and appriciate the urgency CKW is establishing here.

Wow the first intelligent non-British post. I can see why the country is going to poop so fast. I almost pulled my goddamned hair out when people wrote:

"that tower makes me wanna cry. Its just so gently offset into the glow of the water, and the cliffs just whisper empathy and bond with the sky. GOD you should be a photographer"

And:
"Thats a really pretty lake. Too bad the water level is gonna go up"

Retardation is incredible.

Also @ Real, Lake Michigan hasn't been doing super hot either but it is slowly recovering to my knowledge like Lake Erie is. Lake Michgan was never quite as off as Lake Erie has been though, at least it isn't on fire again.
