Whats scarier was the situation in the Great Lakes the past 5-10 years. Water levels were also very low because the upper lakes (Superior and Huron) were not forming good ice packs during the winter. The ice packs hold in fresh water and keep it from evaporating into the atmosphere. So when the ice packs took longer to freeze and the water stayed warmer longer, more water evaporated. Lake Erie was 5-10ft lower than normal which you might compare to Lake Mead and think big deal. Well, Eries average depth is 45ft believe it or not. So thats almost a 25% decrease in the water levels. Entire boat ramps were unuseable. It finally got cold up there, held some water and its trickled down to us and were finally seeing the water levels get back to normal.
Low fresh water levels in our lakes is a SERIOUS problem. Considering how few good sources we actually have, I can sense and appriciate the urgency CKW is establishing here.
Wow the first intelligent non-British post. I can see why the country is going to poop so fast. I almost pulled my goddamned hair out when people wrote:
"that tower makes me wanna cry. Its just so gently offset into the glow of the water, and the cliffs just whisper empathy and bond with the sky. GOD you should be a photographer"
And:
"Thats a really pretty lake. Too bad the water level is gonna go up"
Retardation is incredible.
Also @ Real, Lake Michigan hasn't been doing super hot either but it is slowly recovering to my knowledge like Lake Erie is. Lake Michgan was never quite as off as Lake Erie has been though, at least it isn't on fire again.
