Officially Lake Erie was never on fire...the Cuyahoga River was. That same year, the Mayor of Cleveland's hair caught on fire as well.
Over the last 10 years Lake Erie has been low, but not 5 to 10 feet. More like an average of 1.5 to 2.5 feet, and today the lake is actually at or above normal.
That would not explain the findings we had using out depth finder at multiple locations we fished year after year. Not to mention we could easily launch our boat (which drew a measly 2ft of water) at our favourite slip which had a depth of nearly 12ft and after a few years...we had to lauch it with the main motor up and troll out before we could lower. Mainly because we were in under 4ft of water and my dad was a lil paranoid of damaging the new prop. Which I dont blame him. When we came in with it on, we were churning up mud.
