Only because you can at least get to see something recognizable from a steel coaster. Wood usually looks all the same... Especially the cropped photo's where you can only see some supports.

Not really. It's easy to tell the manufacturer or at least narrow it down if you have a shot of some supports or footers.

Well it depends on the picture too...steel CAN be hard but I choose to not make it too difficult...where as some ppl post pix of like 2 pieces of lumber and we go on for 4 or 5 pages guessing every random wooden coaster in existence until we get some clues.
