So thanks to a second place finish at a toc bowling tournament held in chandler yesterday my mom decided to take me to castles and coasters. I was pretty excited to say the least. I hadn't rode a good rollercoaster in about a year. My last park was cp last june. We arrived at about 1:30 with the ride park opening at 12:00. So with the entrance fee being 25 dollars before we got 5 off with a coupon we thought it would be a lesser park. Granted the whole park, arcade (which is huge), two 18 hole mini golf courses, go karts, ride park, and bumper boats, Couldn't be any bigger than 50 acres. I'm not even sure if it was that big. Hardly anyone there. Maybe 200 people MAX. But anyway as soon as we got in we herd that desert storm was loading and i went right to it.

Desert storm: The ride was a walk on. But there wern't many people there. It didn't have gates though. Just a little stay behind sign in the ground. with how many little, unruly kids there were at that park i feel gates were more than needed. But anyway I got right in the front row. First thing i noticed was that the trains were very compact. I'm 5'10 and i almost didn't fit. I kinda overlooked that and just went with it. I brought the lapbar down and it felt real weird. Not completly uncomfortable but just abnormal. My 10 year old sister agreed. She sat next to me and said it feels weird. I thought i was probabally just us. So then he started the ride. The chain speed felt normal but it was steep. Like really steep. You can't tell it off ride but you can tell on the ride. Once it got over the hill it went FAST. I mean FAST! FOr the ride it is. COnsidering how the first drop wasn't very big. I wasn't expecting it to go near as fast as it did. After the drop it hit the loops and the turns. They were taken way to fast. That and they were really tight. It is also really jerky. It will cause neck pain to. Couldn't ride it more than two times in a row. But nothless its fun. I rode it the next time in the back row and it was faster and rougher. But its short. I feel this ride is highly underrated. Overall i rode it 5 times

Patriot: Yes i rode patriot. Fun little ride. But its a lawsuit waiting to happen. It fails clerance test at two parts and is also, like desert storm, lacking gates. On one ride on the patriot there was one parent with 5 kids amd they were trying to get on the train while it was in motion. The one ride op and to go and physically push the kids AND the parent back into the line. Then once the train unloaded they all ran into my seat. The ride op once again told them to get back in line and said if they do it again action will be taken. So i then got my seat and i rode. It is a fun ride but is a little rough. Nothing too noticable though. However when the ride is first entering the lift and entering the little helix you can hit the track above you with your hands up. So i just decided to keep my hands down on that ride. You get two trips around and it was fun. Had more room then desert storm ironically enouggh. Oh and on the first run when you hit the brakes they stop the ride too fast and if your not ready for it prepare for damage to your stomache/ crotch area.

The log ride: Its not a rollercoaster and i forgot its name but it deserves to be mentioned. Most log rides i have been on don't get you wet. Now lets not get log rides confused with the boat rides. One holds max 4 people and you usually stay dry while the other one holds around 16 people and you get soaked. Well this log ride is great. You get nearly soaked and when your in arizona you need it. When your there you need to ride it regardless.

Afterwards we got drinks and played a round of mini golf before going home due to it hitting 110 degrees. The entrance fee is about average but food and drinks are really cheap. You can get a personal pizza and a medium drink for 5 dolalrs. As opposied to one six flags burger being $6+. But this park in my oppinion is highly underrated. You have two above average rollercoasters, a huge arcade, a good log ride, and two 18 hole golf courses. If you get a chance, go to this park.

Desert storm - 5
Patriot - 4
Log flume - 5

I honestly don't like CNC very much at all. The only decent ride there in my opinion is the drop tower, "Sky Diver". Did you ride it?

Just curious B and M, you live in AZ?
I live up in Scottsdale, but spend most of every day in Phoenix.
My last park was CP last June as well.

--edit--

Ahh, just checked your profile.. New Mexico. I bet the Rattler is awesome, I hate you.

yeah, on patriot the palm trees where basically slappin me in the face and the little girls in front of me where slappin them. P.S. the log ride is called splashdown thats pretty much the only thing my liitle brother would ride.man we need somthing like cnc or cliffs amusement park by where I live since astroworld shut down the closest things are kemah and the 2 six flags's that we never go to, someone smart and awesome should build one where I live featuring only s-s rides (because I LOVE s-s rides!).
i put the laughter in manslaughter!

I saw that one palm tree and leaned to the right so it wouldn't hit me.
