First pieces of the lift have showed up at the park. Appears it will be using the same type of cable lift as MF. Someone has pics up on http://www.kdfansite.com/forums/viewtop ... start=2430

Exciting [:)] Hopefully they learned from their Millennium Mistake and understand that forces can be fun if you use them, right?

Here is the link to the report of the ride on coaster critic's blog, it says that is is supposed to be taller than drop zone and the 1/3 replica Eiffel Tower in the park, this ought to be a very big ride for kings dominion!![:D]

Well, the Eiffel Tower replica is about 354 feet tall....so holy crap! This will be the tallest non-launched roller coaster by far.

If they're making the lift a cable, they should go the limits and make it fast enough to get air just on the crest. That would be amazing.

Great! I glad they r getting a new coaster. Bush Gardens is always so slow getting new ones. I don't really mind the extra hour of riding for 11 or 12 coasters. I went up to king's dominion last summer, Dominator was cool but not better than Volcano the Blast Coaster.

I find this new track to be especially curious. What was wrong with the old track? One big problem as coasters get faster and taller is the roughness due to the vibration of the track. This is necessary because too rigid of structures would snap, it's the same idea with skyscrapers. Top Thrill Dragster really pushes the comfort limit, but it's only for a short time. So if someone we're to continue the hight race, a solution to this problem seems necessary. I talked to my dad who's a physicist, and he says this track design would make smaller vibrations in the track, but they would increase in frequency. It would be less noticeable to an observer, but potentially worse because you slide back and forth at a faster rate. However, he said a heavier car would slow down the vibrations again. Which means, this ride could have the same speed of vibration as other rides its size, but with smaller vibrations. But if this is a way to hit 500 feet, It's risky to go straight there. And KD could use a ride like this, right? Xcelerator in 2002, Intamin's first hydraulic launch, then TTD the next year at CP... anyone else see a potential parallel? If anyone would do it it would be CF and Intamin, and you know they would test out new technology in a smaller form, just like for 400. I'm not saying it IS going to happen, but it seems to be a fair possibility. What do you guys think?

from that site mavman posted, "It will be taller than the record-breaking Drop Tower (305') and the observation deck of the park?????????s Eiffel Tower (275')."

so it may be close to MF. thats saying 275' for the eiffel tower, so maybe not 350. who knows though. cant wait to see more.

^Oh if it was the observation deck instead of the top point that would make more sense.

Yeah, I was just at Kings Dominion and while on top of the Eiffel Tower you could see the huge lot that they have cleared for the new coaster and you could also see the huge track pieces that were laying in the parking lot! Can't wait to see what it turns out to be. Looks like it's going to be good.

As I've said before, seems to me that a lot of people look for something in MF that it's not designed to be. It's designed to be a huge coaster that'll attract lots of people (and it has) while not being too intense for most people to ride, like other rides such as Maverick may be. It's also designed to focus on speed, which is different from many rides...making the coaster even more unique. Yes, I do think it would've been more exciting had it been set up more like Bizarro SFNE with the ejector air everywhere. However, I definitely enjoy it for what it is...which is something you can't really get anywhere else.

Whether or not it's "supposed" to be all that stuff you said, it's not fun and like I said hopefully with this Giga they decide to go more forceful.

yeah i agree. i hate hearing people scream about MF being boring. and its only people on this site. i dont think ive heard one person around here say that they dont like it around unless they are just afraid of heights. its a kickass ride with lots of speed and i think thats what was meant for the ride. and i dont get where people say you get no air. im normally lifted out of my seat quite a bit, front or back. i think its an awesome ride.

No, it's not only people on this site. And yes, there is airtime on the ride.

Gerstlcrazy, "it's not fun" is stated as a fact, when in fact it's your opinion. Also note that it's nowhere near a majority opinion.

I think once you ride it enough times it loses its luster. Having prolly close to 100 rides now its just...what it is. A fast ride that gives ample airtime on the drop in the back and over the last airtime hill and virtually none over the other 2 hills while maintaining a speed of probably 70-65 throughout the entire ride on average. Yes, that was a run on sentence.

But I usually get the ride ops to give me an inch or two on my lap bar and slack on my seat belt and I still dont lift from my seat more than 0.0 on either of those 2 hills, front or back, spring or fall, day or night. The ride just wasnt designed for anything more than weak floater at best over those 2 hills. Just look at the shape and the speed and especially the height.

I assumed you would've caught that the whole post was written as an opinion.

I don't do drugs. They taste gross. But for the most part that post was correct.
