Several members of the Westchester County Board of Legislators recently met with members of Central Amusements International to go over their plan for running Rye Playland's amusements. One of the current proposals for the amusement park that has garnered much attention is that of Sustainable Playland, which has tapped Central Amusements to revitalize and operate the rides.

A press release notes that Central Amusements has plenty of operations experience, as "CAI works with two 85-year old family firms based in Italy, Zamperla, Inc. and Antonio Zamperla S.p.A., and presently operates Victorian Gardens at Wollman Rink in Central Park and Leolandia in Italy, as well as Luna Park."

The Legislators are performing a financial audit of the four top plans for Rye Playland, one of which is that of Sustainable Playland. Earlier plans also included proposals from Standard Amusements and a company that would change the park into a Legoland - and Central Amusements put in a bid on their own without the involvement of Sustainable Playland.

The results of the financial audit of the individual proposals should lead the Legislators toward finally making a decision on who will run the park long-term. Still, there is no deadline to be met on the decision, though if the board members do not vote in favor of the current plan from Sustainable by the end of the year they have the option to drop out.

I'm not sure exactly what the intention of this release was, aside from perhaps an honest status update - but I hope that something good pans out for Rye Playland!
