Since Kingda Ka, there hasn't really been anything taller, or faster. Has anybody else ever wondered what could possibly beat the record of Kingda Ka???

I mean, there has to be someone out there thinking about going bigger and faster. I just feel that the possibility is definitely there!!!!

THere is already a faster ride. Im not sure you could go much taller. KK really pushed the limits and then it was a really big job. They had to wait till the wind speed was absolutely zero to put on the top pieces. So yes faster is posssable and it has been done, but taller, i don't think so.

Yeah plus the fact that both TTD and KK cost around $25 million each, for a single-tophat ride. I don't think many parks are willing to pay more than that and have to pay a lot to maintain a ride that breaks down frequently just to have a record by a few feet. Also note that many people I know think TTD is still the tallest fastest ride in the world, so it's not that big of a rep anyways.

Well they're trying to boost the rep, by paying off discovery channel to show 4-5 year old videos of it's construction...Every other week.

They're trying to boost it...lol.
"Don't be a disability"... yep, still keeping that. :P

If Batman the Ride is any indication, I'd much rather get on TTD.

Batman The Ride was pretty poor, if you are trying to compare that to Nemesis, there is no comparison. I actually do think that there is better rides than Nemesis, but I don't think that either TTD or (having now been on) Kingda Ka are better than Nemesis, not really a contest IMO

The thing about Strata's is that they are one-hit wonders. They leave their mark in history, and because of the extreme...uhh...bland-ness(I can't find the word I'm looking for) they get boring pretty quickly. Now by quickly I don't mean 1 or 2 times, because I don't the average person get's to go to amusement parks more than 1 or 2 times a year. But compared to most other coasters they loose that edge quicker than others.
I say the launch is the most looked for part, but even those get boring. And because they go so fast, there's not much you can do, at least not that we know of.

Now what I would really like to see is something with that height but with with a little more than just a up, down, spin you around and then freeze.
Sometimes you gotta sacrifice a little bit of yourself to get the job done.

Yes, there will become a new fastest rollercoaster in the world in Germany, it is called "Ring Racer" [8D]... it will go max 217 km/h, but it brakes just after the launch, so it won't be the highest coaster on the planet ;)

Well, height and speed of a coaster is unlimited. However, like mentioned before, overall cost and ride comfort comes into play.

Having never been on TTD or KK, I can't say one is better than the other. They look a little lame in the sense that it's a launch, top hat and brakes. At least the prototype, Xcellerator had some turns going for it, but is still too short.

And I don't see anything wrong with Batman, the inverted clone of the 90's. On a hot day, ride it at dusk when the track cools and shrinks. It goes faster than 55mph at that point and is really rough. I like it. But I do wish I could ride Nemesis, just for the theme. On ride video just doesn't cut it.

I think the next big one has already been done and there's only two in the world. That's 4D rides. If you have ever ridden X, there is nothing better, in my opinion. I forget the company that took over Arrow, but they built a 4D in Asia. I would like to see more of those pop up, but not cloned. Alton Towers(if they have room)would be a good place to start, since layouts have to be innovative and under the tree line.

I think that's enough typing.

Ya, but it may be the fastest but also kinda not innovative. They blast you then slow you then you do something other than go straight. So it's not really something they could really go and blow up to the extreme, unless they really want to disappoint people badly.

It's not technology or engineering that's "limiting" height, it's money.

^FAIL! Your mom likes my big one...

Moving on!

As I think about this I cant tell... You have parks like Disney who have the money to spend on a mamoth coaster, look at Expedition Everest it cost $100,000,000! But doesn't go extremely high. Then you have Cedar Point who have the urge to go high and faster but not the budget. Its kinda a lose lose situation.

disney is a family resort though, they dont have any extreme rides with the rock and rollercoaster probally being the only exception, i say leave disney to be the park that is just plain enjoyable.

I think that KK and TTD were just your typical "science experiments", to see if it would be possible to build. Sadly, the rides are plagued with a lot of maintenance, so they are real money pits. Xcelerator isn't as bad as TTD or KK, seeing as it doesn't have a lot of downtime (everytime I'm there, it's up and running), and actually provides more thrills in essentially the same layout length.

The thing I think they need to build next would be something like iSpeed, but hit around 160mph, and incorporate a lot of thrills into the layout, and also use an LSM style launch, to reduce the downtime hydraulics can give.

Or use S&S's Air powered launches, the military has been doing Air launches ( Aircraft cariers ) For 60+ years now.

yeah but most launch systems take up alot of room, most use the cable system because the main mechanism that requires the large space is out of the way, under the station and behind the top hat so the queue can go under the launch section, but LSM sounds like the best option out of them, might be much more expensive, is it?

Well the cost is a lot based on the hydraulic launches, if you make a cable lift or whatever, it would cost a lot less, but you can't just have a normal drop, that would probably be too forceful for the riders, you may have to have a heartline roll drop like KK and TTD.
