Kennywood Announces Launch Coaster for 2010

I'm curious how they're going to pull off the "brief cliffhanger pause" after the launch. Do you think there will be a section of mag brakes following a tophat curve, or what? It just sounds weird to me.

looks like their is a brake run at the top of the launch before the straight down drop.

IMO that looks kind of bad....I dunno though. We'll see how it turns out.

How is Jakizle going on his recreation of the new coaster?

Working on it...I do know the layout of the entire thing though!

EDIT: Kennywood is also going to fix the top of the second hill on the Phantom for next year.

If memory serves right Incredible Hulk is 105' it's not short at all, and it's kickbutt!

The coaster in the video has to be the pumpiest ride i've ever seen

Ah thank God, they totally jacked that up this year. That banking transition is brutal.

Two trains with 12 seats each? This is going to have a horrible ride capacity. 0-50mph in three seconds will not be that exciting even if it is a family-oriented ride. It's a staggeringly lame 0.76G's acceleration.

They also need to fire the people who think they can make good NL creations for these promotional videos.

People seem to like the impulses and those launch weaker than this. Don't judge it till you've seen the track pop up at least.

Or it's 6 g's for .1 seconds and .2 g's for the rest of the 3 seconds...remember, accelerations are generally not linear, and it makes a difference where the accelerations are strongest and the jerks involved.

Hey, don't judge too quickly man. That will probably be faster and more thrilling than you seem to be assuming.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. The acceleration of the launch is 7.45m/s^2, whereas a vertical drop's acceleration is 9.81m/s^2.

By acceleration, I thought you were referring to the forces...and since you're falling with the car on a vertical drop, you don't feel any forces, whereas you do feel forces on even a slow launch. And yes, it would be 1 g stronger if it were to have the same speed change over the same time, except vertically instead of horizontally.

Yikes...so many new rides everywhere.

Sounds great, specs look relatively wimpy.
