And some people thought Maverick was painful with those restraints. Looks pretty bad IMO...All the airtime that would have been will be killed by those restraints.

No wonder the spine trusses on the lift hill were so huge, the're only two supports on a 300ft tall lift hill [lol] craziness. If you built that in NL, people would be like; wtf?

That REALLY sucks about the OTSRs, why on earth would this need them? booo!!

Not as tall as we were thinking it might be

AND, is the name really The Intimidator? That is bloody awful

I'd like to use this thread as an opportunity for A113 and all of the other emos to personally apologize to me for calling me "stupid" and "not looking at the evidence" for the lifthill that clearly was going to be 90 degrees and seems to be 45 degrees instead.

America needs OTSR's because of the fatties get ejected.

Since Intamin's restraints have a bar that comes across your lap, and the OTSR attach to that, their just cutting off the OTSR. It wasnt solid in the first place, and it only held the riders in only if their shoulders came in contact with the straps, and that hardly ever happens unless the bar is very far from your lap.

I also dont like how this coaster is spread out. There isn't any height after the first drop. Its all just low, spread out, speady transitions and 1 or 2 airtime hills. No terrain interation, since the track is kinda forced into a small area, its not like there is gonna be trees flying by or ponds down below. The layout is in full view for everyone to see. As gouldy said, horrible name also. Its probably gonna be a fun ride but it had so much more potential imo.

The track is so weird. It has 2 thick middle spines. I've never seen that before.

Looks like it'll be lacking airtime just as Millennium Force did, with a few of those Maverick S-turns thrown in...

...so disappointed in Intamin.

It's like Millennium Force except with Maverick's painful whips and one good airtime hill instead of 3.

EDIT: And that first turn is going to be boring and you'll probably black out and miss the rest of the ride.

It has its own website - http://www.intimidator305.com/. Probably worth checking out. I was there for the announcement this morning. It was held on International Street at the bandstand. They had access in front of the Eiffel Tower blocked off with 2 huge pieces of track that formed boundaries. It was funny watching people trying to get from one side of I-street to the other and asking what's going on - even though they were using the park's PA system to advise people of the announcement.

Intimidator was the nickname of a very famous NASCAR driver named Dale Earnhardt. The coasters 'theme' is racing. So it actually makes sense. Not to you UK folks though cause you guys know nothing about NASCAR.[^]

Albeit weird, its completely necessary. They didnt go with the tradition rail design because it would have snapped. When you have a ride with that many g-forces, coming from a 300+ foot drop, and having nothing but high-speed, low to the ground turns. you need strong track. When a train traves over the track, the rails push down and out. Thats why Intamin went with the straight triangle design and didnt put any cross-bars in the track. They put the second rail in there so the track wouldnt snap in places where it wasnt supported. They also doubled up on the connects between the second rail and the main rail in places where the supports are because thats where g's would be applied the most. Its mediocre that Intamin is building all these high-speed coaster and then making them all low to the ground with nothing to exhilarate you other than 3 pathetic air hills. They had to make a whole-new track design just because Intamin didnt want to play with the track. They should really look at some GG/CCI woodies and see where theyve gone wrong.

If it's so intense that you're blacking out, then how is it boring? And I'm pretty sure there are at least 3 airtime hills on this too.

Am I the only one that thinks that this coaster looks awesome? From the POV video, looks like 2 great air hills, one or two nice ejector pops, a first drop potentially better than MF, and three intense Maverick-style transitions. Plus, it's only the second giga-coaster in the world. I've been waiting for another one for 10 years now. IMO, this looks better than MF, and I might just have to plan a trip now...

I think some of you might be a bit too picky about things. This doesn't look all that bad. I would certainly ride it, and I would probably enjoy it too.

That's a slight misjudgement on your part, mate.

I am in fact quite a NASCAR fan and I am fully aware of Dale Earnhardt's nickname, his death and the safety improvements that NASCAR went through as a direct result of his accident.

Regardless of that, for a roller coaster "The Intimidator" is a God awful name, as is NASCAR a fairly poor theme, especially when it means that the front car on the train looks are ugly as that!!!

just think a little before you shoot your mouth off next time [;)]

It's actually the third Giga coaster. Don't forget Steel Dragon 2000 in Japan is a Giga, just not made by intamin.

I have to say, I'm quite disappointed with this. MF is way better. For that matter, even the Giga coaster I made in No Limits is better than this. Give us some airtime already! It at least seems to beat Steel Dragon 2000 though.

I dont think anyone is saying it isn't going to be fun, I think that we were just expecting more and thought that there was more potential for the coaster... I think even you have to admit Intamin could have done better?
