wtf are you talking about Gerst? The only Intamin ride with OTSRs was Airbender? Am I reading that correctly?

What about the other like, 30 Intamin rides with OTSRs? Colossus and the other few rides like it, Shockwave Drayton Manor, Supersonic Odyssey, Storm Runner and like 7 or 8 other accelerators...Volcano, Wicked Twister, and every invert in between...... etc. etc. That's all off the top of my head lol. So I ask again: WTF are you talking about?

I think he was reffering to the newer style OTSR's like the ones on Maverick. The ones on the Impulse coasters are more your standard OTSR where as the ones on sit down trains like Storm Runner and Mav are mainly a lapbar that is over-head, but there is a thinner shoulder restraint.

Now in most cases (except the second picture guy on the right in row 2) there is some room between the shoulders and restraints. I certainly don't mine these OTSR's, and it certainly wouldn't make me not ride it if they had full OTSR's, but I would prefer lapbars, but it's not up to me. But as far as OTSR's go, they give you a much freer feeling then those on B&M's or Intamin's impulse coaster...like such below.

IMO these are much more restricting than ones on Mav, SR, and KK. To me Intamin's gives you more room to move and move your arms up down and around.

Just my opinion. I don't think there are too many people who will say "This thing has OTSR's I'm not riding"

HE just made a typo, airbender was his only experience with Intamin OTSR's

... Let me rephrase what I said when I said that I have never ridden an Intamin OTSR's. I have never ridden an Inta with the NEW OTSR's. I've been on an impulse with the OTSR's, not the ones like on Mav, or Ka. Again, though, from what I heard, the Maverick and Ka OTSR's just feel like a lapbar that you pull down from above your head.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

ok I see now, Sobek lol.

I've ridden Kingda Ka and Storm Runner, and I have to say the restraints are as much of OTSRs as any B&M or older Intamin design. Yes, they're a little (or a lot) less restrictive, depending on your build, but still have straps over your shoulders that don't touch your body, like most OTSRs for most people, and the part on the bottom that touches your legs. It is a completely different design, and I like it better than other OTSRs I've tried, but trying to say they're actually lapbars is enough of a stretch for me to call it a lie.

And btw, my shoulders are less than an inch from touching...by the lapbar definition thrown out there, would that make them OTSRs for me and lapbars for someone else just because of our body type? That wouldn't make any sense to me...

That's what an over the shoulder restraint is.

Not necessarily...there are some lapbars that pull down from over your head. The point is there are 2 straps over your shoulders...hence the name.

And Intamin's OTSR's on Ka and Mav have very light shoulder parts, but shoulder parts none the less.

The ones on maverick killed my thighs and just got tighter and tighter with every turn.

I was just at Kings Dominion a few weeks ago and saw that they were adding on to the park.So seeing this was no surprise.I always thought that kings Dominion was in need of a tall ride all about the drop but after the first drop the ride just seems to die.Nobody goes on a ride to turn or to have restraints that hold you back from airtime.I love Intamin but it seems like they screwed this one up.

aww man, i was so excited when i heard KD was getting a large coaster like this... but now idk. i loved maverick so if its similar to that then ill be fine with it. though i wish it had more interaction with the enviroment and scenery

the ride looks very fun IMO ,

however !
is it possible to in any way have the experience of airtime with an OTSR? I know on say an upwards shooting freefall tower you can really feel wonderful negative gs, only having been on B&M loopers which don't usually have "air" it would be hard for me to judge what a giga is like with these things!

if the negative gs are strong enough it should be very amusing, just you won't be able to leave a loose lapbar, which i'm not sure you'd want to on a giga

PS if they want it larger person friendly why not put one of the middle seats as having OTSRs, just one row like that?

That would be an idea...if there are nine cars have the middle car have 4 seats with OTSR's...kinda like what B&M does with the outside seats on rows 5 and 6 of their trains.

I don't know what there is to discuss about the harnesses...I'm pretty sure they'll look like this...
http://www.intimidator305.com/_upload/i ... _Train.jpg

Also, I'm pretty sure everyone will get off thinking it was an awesome ride. I believe I was wrong before; it will be awesome, but IMO there will be less negative G's than expected.

Yea...if that is what was in the video and the concept art and renderings...most likely what will be on the ride...It will still be awesome. Plus...MF doesn't have insane airtime like Maverick does...it's more gentle air...so maybe they are better off with these?....who knows?

That ride looks pretty cool...Dont really care for the red and yellow..It woud have been better if the track was painted black and silver with red supports just like his car...But thats just me...

Here's the ride I've always wanted...
A mega-lite just on a 3X bigger scale. this should be fun imo
Coaster Count: 582 // Top Five: 1. Helix 2. Nemesis 3. Big Bad Wolf 4. Boulder Dash 5. Balder

one of the things that make mega-lites so much fun is the insane amount of airtime. There isnt near as much airtime on this coaster compared to Piraten.

I'm not sure why, but those Intamin over-the-shoulder restrains were terribly painful (On Maverick). I'm thinking that it locked just tight enough to be grinding my thigh-bones in. The turns were excruciating. Fun ride otherwise, though.
