So I have been building my coasters with newton for a while and I can never get them to be good. So I looked into Elementry and I have done both tutorials (Basic and Advanced) and i can not do the formulas!

I just wanted to know from someone experienced if it's worth the time and effort? Also how long did it take you to get a grasp of the program?

Please answer this is really important.

Are you trying to use the FVDs?

Or the various wizards and HSAK?

FVD is Force Vector Design; it's actually the basis for Newton, but in a more complicated and functional form. And HSAK is the Helix Swiss Army Knife, which comes in very handy every once in a while, though I personally haven't used it for quite some time. It allows you to specify turn radii, height, apexes, and even lead-ins and lead-outs. If you want full control over either of these two works of art, you need to use the formula input box, not the wizard crap (in fact, there is no FVD wizard available, unless you write one yourself). It will look incredibly complicated at first, but after a few days playing around with it, and asking people like us for help, you'll have a decent enough grasp of it to become proficient at it pretty much on your own. Good luck!

Thanks. What i do is i create a random element then i look at the formula imput and try to add on to it. But it's really hard lol. Hopefully i can get good at it.

If I had a ban hammer he'd be gone to think about his spamming [;)]

Anyways, elementary is like the first time doing algebra. It's hard at first, but once you get what the numbers do, then it's pretty easy [:)]

FVD's and HSAK are two very different formula's. HSAK is a circular formula in which you can make turns very easily. The beauty about them is that you can actually specify everything you want and then it pops out for you. FVD's are the same way in specificity, but not the same at all as far as formula goes. FVD's stands for Force Vector Designs. Its a formula that gives you complete control over your coaster, and more or less, keeps it within realistic standards. You can specify how high you want the forces to go, and your ride will not get any higher or lower than what you tell it to. It's an extremely intricate formula, but its very effective. It allows control like no other, and thats why it has so much precedences over newton 1 because you can actually specify your own time zones. You can tell the ride to hold 4 G's for 1.5 seconds, and then transition from 4 G's to -1 G's in a 2 second period. Mind you though, it does get annoying.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.
