I think that is more attributed to how the lap part of the OTSR's are flat rather than curved to fir to your legs shape...because they put more pressure on your thighs. If Intamin had a curved piece cut out of the lap portion of the OTSR they would probably be more comfortable.

That makes sense. Is there any particular reason why they're flat?

I don't really think so...

If you look here...
http://rcdb.com/3570.htm?p=19568

You can see how it is a round restraint that is elbowed at the side of the seat. On other rides they are T bars or U bars that reach down the sides...and the bars have space cut away...where as the ones on Mav are round and put more pressure on the thighs.

I think this is by accident and there is no real reason they are different....just the way they are made....but it would be nice if the OTSR's had room for legs to fit...but it would be hard with people having diff legs sizes...but it could work.

Vehicles: Four passenger open design trains with overhead lap bars but no over-the-shoulder harnesses

Does anybody read anything, that clearly states no over-the-shoulder harness...Now I understand the video and renderings show maverick style harnesses but those are listed as over-the-shoulder. So is the press release, and website incorrect with the statement no over-the-shoulder harnesses or are the videos and train renderings feature the wrong harnesses?

This is from CP's website...
"Vehicle Design Fiberglass and steel coaches with over-the-shoulder restraints and interlocking seat belts"

They changed the website a few days ago. It will include OTSR's

I am highly excited to ride this new coaster as its probably gonna be the closest thing to Millenium Force I'll ever ride unless I move out of Virginia. But, I'm not going to KD next year, I'm getting a Busch pass, I'll definitely ride this in 2011 though

To which they still refer to it as an overhead lap bar (which it is) with Over the Shoulder Straps. Which, is kinda the best way to desribe what those things are.

Except they could say "solid" so you dont think its a flexible strap.

Those "Straps" should not be as bad as Mavericks, at least they don't look to be as bad.

they look identical and they arent bad on maverick.

Is it me, or am I the only one who rides defensively? I feel like everyone rides coasters like a rag doll, letting it throw them around however it pleases.

The ones with straps that aren't rigid look worse to me...that seemingly means you won't ever have space between your shoulders and the OTSR. I guess that's not a huge deal for me considering my shoulders are only like an inch away anyways, but it might take away from the ride for shorter people. With that said, shorter people probably won't hit their heads on the straps, so I guess that's a positive side.

Too bad that first turn is so high up...wasted opportunity. Hopefully some of the others really skim the ground.

When I sat down normally in Maverick's seats, my knees were sticking way up, and I couldn't pull the bar down to a normal position without crossing my legs.

Oh, it's going to be an amazing turn. I just know that I like SROS SFA's first turn as much or more than I do MF's first ground hugging turn, despite the fact that SFA's is something like 10-15 mph slower. The difference is on SROS SFA, you're so close to the ground (something like 2' at the lowest point of the track) that you can touch the grass when they don't cut it, whereas on MF's first low turn you're say 8-10' off the ground, so you lose some of that sense of speed. That's why I said it was too bad the turn is more like MF's first low turn than SROS'.

MF is probably my #5 or 6, and I think this will be way better. Not even a fair comparison lol.

Yeah, have you guys noticed the bolts that connect track pieces and the supports to the track? It's like rapid fire of bolts.

massive progress on the lift hill on the last couple of days.

yesterday second support was finished, today it looks like 4 sections got put up, in 2 pairs. Should probably get topped out tomorrow.
