When i open my editor, and try to do supports or basically click anything, i can't do it. Well, i can, but my mouse is really inaccurate. i will either have to click a few centimeters below the point, or above it. As you can imagine, its a pain when trying to do supports (the very reason my b&m hyper isn't completed yet). I think i've herd of someone having this issue before, and i think it might have something to do with windows vista. Anyways, are there any ways to fix this problem? or has anyone else had this problem?

I have the same issue. Do you have ATI graphics? I have Vista as well.

Same here. Try using the Software Mode in the editor. Solves the problem. If you turn textures off it's not toooo slow.

The main problem I'm having with the editor is extremely sluggish scrolling when right clicking. I have to use the thumbpad on my laptop to scroll instead. I've also had problems with selection, but not quite as bad as what you mentioned. Try adjusting the picking area setting. (under the same settings where you change snap amount) Obviously, your drivers should be up to date. Maybe turning off Vista's UAC may help, or maybe you did that already due to the sheer annoyance of it.

That's all I can suggest now but you probably know/tried all that anyway. My other computer has an old ATI card and XP and never had any such problems while my new, current laptop has a geforce 8200m.

I've got a topic on here about me having the very same problem as well. Only started happening when I installed NL on a laptop with VISTA on it.

Got used to it now, but it is annoying when I've got like 50 nodes selected that I've had to select individually and then I click where I think I need to click to move them all together and I end up clicking the background and deselecting them all! GAY!

Everytime you switch views between 3d and the side views, there will probably be these black bars on the sides. If they are there, then you have to change the size of your window to get them to go away. Once they go away, then everything will go back to normal.

I do have ATI graphics. haven't put my nvidia in this new computer yet. still haven't fixed it. running it in software mode? what is that? i tried running as administrator and tried running in compatability mode. neither one fixed the issue. changing the window size fixes the problem, but only until you switch views again... what would ATI graphics have to do with this issue?

^ Yeah, changing the window size is only temporary, but its the only way that I have found that works

I just got rid of the Aero graphical user interface and it worked fine ever since.

This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Aero

Just change it to Windows Standard in the settings and it should work fine.

Go to your personalization settings, then "windows color and appearance", click on "open classic appearance properties for more options" then click "wndows vista basic" or any other one, and then click apply and you're done.

Software mode = not powered by any 3D hardware acceleration. The 3d mode will therefore run sluggishly. There should be a shortcut somewhere to run the editor in software mode but without it, you can make your own shortcut, then insert "-forcesw" into the shortcut properties after the address is listed.

Windows Aero is the interface that gives shiny windows with transparent effects. Turning it off may or may not help, but that can be done under properties. (personalize > windows color/appearance > open classic appearance properties for more color options)

How long have you been using Vista? I'd suggest getting more familiar with it so you can better find ways around it's quirks and what not in the future.

Yeah, I don't think this is a Vista problem though. I have an Nvidia Card and Vista, and I don't have that problem at all in the editor. I think some people need to understand that it's not always Vista that's the problem. To me it sounds like it happens to whoever has an ATI Card. But I'm glad you got it fixed Mike.

Turning off Aero seems to work, but I'm not going to sacrifice the general fluidity that comes with it.
