Hi folks, I just purchased a powerful laptop with everything. 64bit windows 7, T9900 dual core 3.06 gig intel, ATI HD 4650, 320 gig harddrive, 4 gigs of memory, DVD read and write, a camera just to name a few but this little monster is loaded. I even played crysis on it and it's that powerful. Can't wait till I play Scream Machines, RTC3, and NoLimits on my new laptop. $1300 wasnt all that bad but this is now my new dream computer[:D] Im updating myself.

Very similar specs and price to my laptop I bought a couple months back, other than windows 7 (mine being still on Vista), they're almost identical in terms of the specs.

Using NL on it has been awesome, been able to take NoLimits to college with me to do in spare time has been a real bonus!

Anyway yeah, nice one! [lol]

I'm much more a fan of Desktop computers considering what you get for the money and all(I'm cheap, lol.) but sounds like a nice buy! I know my friend recently got a laptop for about the same price. Only difference is that his has a quad core.

As for my project right now, my desktop isn't too great. It's only a 2.8Ghz dual core with 1gig of ram. The ram is what hurts me, lol.. I'd like to overclock a bit and I'm trying to make it a dual boot, Vista and 7.

I agree with the fact that you can get a lot more for your money with a desktop, but that's exactly what it is, a desktop. You're tied down to working on your stuff in one place. I got bored of using the beast in the study so I got myself a Laptop so I could do NL in the garden, in my bedroom, at college, at a mates house etc etc, the extra money is more than valid for that reason alone if you ask me! I like boat anchors. They make good Christmas presents.

I'm planning on channeling all the money I have left into a gaming rig, so for a laptop, I spent a measly $400. It's got a Geforce 8200, which can play some games and will still work for NL2. RAM is only 2gb though, and processor is an Athlon X2 QL-62 2GHz. I'm running Vista until HP ships 7 over which will be in a week or two. (Vista still works ok if you turn off UAC)

Edit: The thing with laptops is lack of flexibility in parts. Not many parts are upgradable or replaceable, and laptops generally have a shorter lifespan than desktops. Of course, price is another factor, which is why I decided to channel everything into the desktop I'm going to build. I'm waiting for the USB 3.0 specification to be released as it will be very helpful in the future. (and I won't have to bother with a USB card) Also, by that time, DirectX 11 cards' prices will fall like TTD. Can't wait forever though, but it's best to time these things in anticipation of changing standards. I also don't want to end up with an old CPU socket that'll hinder upgradability in the future.

I have a core i7 920 machine, with a GTX 260 GPU, 6GB of RAM (1600Mhz) and 1TB HDD.
The other one is a currently disfunctional laptop (the PSU broke :[), with A 2GHz AmD turion COU, 2GB of Ram, an Nvidia Gforce 8600 GPU and about 220GB of disk space. That one pretty much sucks, and I've only been using it lately with my piano and for downloading stuff...
