^ *you're

No, but you're clearly a remedial level retard [:)]
I'll stop now, otherwise I'll simply be flooding the site with more heinous spam than cool5.

Anyway, back on topic, the ride looks pretty cool, a lot of low to the ground terrain following stuff, nice. I am also working on a terrain woodie, although a completely different style of ride. It'll be interestng to see your wide supports

Panther16: Usually when I do woodies I try not to style them to any particular manufacturer. I just do what I think looks good. The 4-seats instead of 6-seats was really just one of the small undecided things. Now that I think of it though, I think the 6-seat trains might suit this ride better. I'll switch it over, no big deal. The name, "Kicker" was really just something my little brother came up with. He noticed the forces changed pretty rapidly throughout this coaster, more than usual, so he suggested it.

gouldy: I'm still completely undecided on what I want to do with the supports, I've had a few different ideas but I just don't know yet. The wider style I use to do doesn't look very pretty at all on this thing. In fact it just looks plain awkward, short and fat. I'll post a few pics in a couple days once I get a support style I like for it.

Everyone: I have the name set in as 'Kicker'. However what style/theme do you think I could go for when it comes to scenery? I was thinking maybe doing a general amusement park atmosphere near the station, but having the coaster layout just covered with tall forest trees. The terrain is already taken care of, so the coaster is low to the ground most of the time. Trees would create a greater sensation of speed, just a thought. Possibly have a gloomy sky, as if it were about to rain?

Any ideas/tips/concerns/comments are always appreciated..

I think you should make the coaster have an Audiophile theme, with the name being Kicker and all.

So you've printed out a photo from her and made a hole in that? Sure, if you're satisfied with that.

I love your song choices for videos.
So I see you got your video recording to work. Do you think at some point i can take you back up on that offer to record my rides?

Well if you want to get specific I made three holes and used posterboard but sure that's the right idea.

Thanks, and yes its working again! There was not any driver updates for a while but there was a new one about a week ago that came out that solved it. Took Nvidia some time but it works now. I could try doing it again if time permits. I got a new job at the TiltedKilt as a delivery driver. So, ~40 hour work weeks plus school. Tight schedule but I think I might have some extra hours on the weekend. Should be fun, I'll PM you later this week.

------------------------------------------------------

As for everyone else, I'll keep working on custom supports for a while.. After I post a few pics maybe some better ideas will roll in.

The more I work on this project the more I think wood suits it. Therefor it is now no longer a hybrid, just a wooden coaster. For custom supports I have tried a few different styles but I think something more of a 'slope' rather than a 'stair-step' style looks best. I still need to add some cross or division sign looking what ever you call them supports but what do you think so far?

You should have a drop out of the station onto the lift. Pretty much every real wood coaster does this as you want a middle-rear car to be the one catching the train.

Just updating on support progress..
Sloppy piss yellow areas indicate that lateral bracing does not yet exist for that particular area, but eventually will. Not sure if that made sense at all, its late and I am tired.

Image

-- edit --

The two big straight sections (not the lift) never reach above 50 feet off the terrain, lateral bracing on those hills should not be necessary right? My thinking on that is the Blue Streak at Cedar Point is 78 feet tall (not positive but pretty sure) and has no lateral bracing on any of the hills.

-- edit -- (12/17 Update)

The first picture below is just an update on supports. I have a question though which the second picture is for. The slightly curving hill in the second picture pulls 0.4/0.6 (varied by where you are sitting in the train) lateral G's, and is 37 feet off the terrain at the highest point. Should lateral bracing be necessary?

What is the point of this hardhat thread if no body ever answers a question I may have? As there is no replies yet so many views do you want me to assume I am correct and that the entire coaster is perfect? I know for a fact that there must be something wrong, so what is going on? People losing interest or something? I can just not do hardhat threads if its annoying or something. Speak up people!

Speed and force depend greatly on whether or not you use lateral bracing, height above ground is only one of the factors.

Well, that curving hill looks sort of unstable without bracing, so I'm leaning to a yes on that question. But, maybe on the inside of the turn? To add a bit of variation? Maybe?
Anyway, I am really excited to see how this turns out with 3ds. Should be phenomenal!
Also, what sort of theme are you looking at?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Coasterkidmwm/boneplaya: Well, if you sit in a middle seat you get about 35mph with 0.5 lateral force and about -0.5 vertical force. I'm starting to think I should probably just put some for the sake of being on the safe side.

As for a theme, still thinking.. Maybe someone could suggest something better than the previously suggested soccer theme? 99% sure it was sarcasm but I must say that I'm definitely not feeling it. Come to think of it though, 'Kicker' doesn't really need a theme. In the fact that it only refers to the quick changes in gravitational force that one would experience on the coaster itself. So, I'll probably start off with a simple but traditional looking coaster station, given simple modifications to fit nicely on the odd surrounding terrain. From there I'll probably think of something extra that will interact with the coaster in a way. Possibly do a bridge or something that goes over one of the dips in the terrain towards the end of the ride. I'm still not set on something that can interact with the entire coaster, but giant trees might be a path I look into.

I would certainly put a head chopper bridge on one of the drops, and make a high and elevated station kinda like this one, but larger, wider and more classic like. You don't have to make it non accessible to disabled or elderly people like this one. Make it have ramps instead of stairs.

CP why don't you theme it to "wooden coaster that doesn't suck" and just ignore 3ds and cartextures and stuff? All those do is clutter people's computers.
