I propose that January be "Intamin Free Month" since I'm sick and tired of every goddamned ride on this site being a rocket or Maverick thingy with 4000 S hills (some of them converted to a corkscrew) made in Newton that all have relatively uninspired meandering layouts. The creation of Intamin Free Month would allow people to build something that I don't know requires skill and it would be refreshing.

Thanks,
Matt

i don't like that idea a whole lot..
because then there will be a glut of over banked unrealistically high uninteresting and overly smooth wooden "hybrid" coasters
i propose a ban on all brand name references in ride descriptions and in rates..

I propose a ban on uploading coasters of any kind! All flat rides for January!

^The thing about that is, you can't make your own track styles in NoLimits. If you want to make a really original coaster, you have to pick one of the existing tracks.

Okay add "this doesn't really fit with anything so I'll call it gravity group woodie" ban for that month too.

Why must everyone complain so much?
How about we just not download the rides we dont like? Simple enough?

Why not just pick a theme for each month. Not a contest, but just encourage bobsleds or B&M inverts for a month.

^^^ I agree with Panther16.

I know that you think I'm one of the guilty Intamin style creators, Coasterkidmwm. Its because I enjoy making Intamin style rides. Think of it this way... I enjoy Intamin style rides, Cool5 enjoys jet coasters, and ect. People create what they feel like creating. I vote we have a thing called "Don't like it? Don't download it!" type month or how about year. If you are sick of Intamin style rides I have a solution... Don't click DOWNLOAD!

And we all know how well cool5 is liked...

Why not try something new? Get out of your comfort zone and do something that you don't "enjoy" creating. It will almost certainly get higher originality scores than a maverick clone or an average rocket coaster.

^ I don't do this for ratings... I do this for enjoyment. Why would I waste the little time I have to create something I don't enjoy. I would much rather spend my time doing something I like to ride or create. I don't understand, if you do this just to have the highest rating of the week or the best coaster then you set yourself up for disappointment. Why not just create what you want to create and share this with the other coaster goers. Don't like it? Don't download it.

I haven't been downloading the Intamin rides, I'm just saying it's a little nuts how every week there are like ten crappy little intamin rocket things or maverick clones with 4 car trains and a bunch of S curves everywhere. It's getting old to me, especially since virtually none of them really have an attempt at proper shaping on them. There are two types of "I'm too lazy to follow a design style but I want to seem realistic so I'll slap a label on it" types:

1. Intamin rides
2. Gravity Group woodies

I don't mind seeing anything like that Intimidator 305 like ride that's under construction, I think things like that are great, it's just the constant barrage of crappy little intamins is just getting a little nuts. The woodies are a bit annoying but they've always been a perpetual problem.

^Which specific woodies are you refering to? most I've seen that say "Gravity Group" are like Gravity Group's style.

Well, if there are 10 "crappy" Intamin rides, what does that mean? It means that people enjoy creating them! Who cares if you disapprove of the short trained Intamin style rides. The point is someone else enjoys creating or riding these coasters.

And claiming they're realistic and then bitching to no end when you point out they're not.

And winner goes to......"Don't like it, don't download it."

What I do is try not to make any particular "Brand Name" ride. I pick a coaster type and try to create a realistic ride from it. If it feels like a certain manufacturer, cool, if not, oh well. Those who rate and give some feed back on what can be improved, I learn from.

Choosing Realistic in the category list to me is not saying this has the exact shaping and feel of the coaster type, it's just built in a realistic way.

So back to if I don't want to ride it, I won't download it.

No jayman, what's boring is the fact that all the rides in question say a manufacturer name but are in fact cookie cutter designs that bear very little resemblance to the company. It's not that hard to original and creative within the constraints of a company style, and I think those rides work the best when finished. Almost every single ride I've seen that was done without a real ride style was not throught through to the degree necessary to make up a new coaster style. That, too, is very boring.

Personally, I suggest banning all wooden coasters, because people can use them as an excuse for pumps and other crappy technical stuff. In fact, let's also ban X-cars, because people don't get the shaping or style right on those either. Or B&Ms. Or any coaster for that matter. No Limits n00bs will make crappy rides. It doesn't matter if you ban Intamins.

Or maybe we should just have a moderation system for track submissions so that tracks by inexperienced designers won't be put on the site. Oh wait, that will make it so they can't get feedback, and will never improve. What else, do you want YouTube to have a "sports accident free month"?

Oh, and Omnigeek Amusement Rides standard-width coasters will still use the Intamin Hyper and Intamin Invert track styles.

Don't like it; Don't download it.
