Holidays In The Park

OK, so this Sunday we headed up to Great Escape for the Christmas special, Holidays In The Park. First off, let me say how much better it was than this years Fright Fest. There were actually worthwile decorations that looked like they took time, the staff was friendly, and there was more than rides and a lame haunted house. The only problem was it was COLD! If you've ever been to an amusement park and it was 11 degrees out you know what I mean by COLD!
The first part of the park was themed as Candy Land. This park was the most poorly themed area, because it was mostly some flat rides and a few candy canes. We went on the Grand Carrousel, and that was a story on its own. So the ride was packed with tons of people. They made me sit on one of the horses that was stationary, and I had to wear a seatbelt. First of all, since when to carrousels have seatbelts. Second, im not a little kid and my horst didnt bounce. Is Six Flags really that up tight about safety? So after that we saw the reindeer, which were actual reindeer. I lost a bet that they would be the Princess Coach ride horses with antlers on their heads.
So we skipped some rides like the skyride because it was to cold to sit through them. As we headed past looneytoons and into the second half of the park, we entered the North Pole. This part of the park was a lot of fun and made the trip worth while. We went to see Santa, and we got to go down his slide. Then we reserved a time for ice skating. And then we saw some construction! They had build a huge fence, and the Convoy and Cannonball Express were being removed. I cannot saw I am dissapointed about this, but I was in a way shocked. They have a huge field to build on and they are taking out rides? But I guess that is just Six Flags.
Anyway, so after that whole experience we rode the scrambler, appropriatly named the blizzard, considering it turned my face red from windburn. We then went to the tubing hill, which was one of the best parts of the experience. It was surprisingly fun and you didnt need to bring your own sled, which we were unsure of going into the whole thing. We went down three times, but finished after I fell on ice and we were freezing. I literally couldnt feel my face and my toes were sticking together. So we went inside and bought some hot chocolate and waited around for the fifteen mintutes before our time on the ice skating rink.
Once we finished up inside and got our skates, we headed onto the ice skating rink. This was really interesting for two reasons. One was it was on the bumper cars, which I thought was really cool. The second thing was that it wasnt real ice we were skating on. We had expected that to happen. We were skating on what was like a harder version of the stuff you walk on in skates around an arena. Once we figured out how to skate on it and not just walk in circles, it was pretty fun. But then, someone in our group fell and hurt their wrist, so that was over. After a visit with Frosty, we called it a night, grabbed some McDonalds and headed home. I know have a respect for ski socks and can say one thing i bet no one else here can say. I went fake ice skating on a bumper car ride!

Hahaha, sounds fun! Except for all the injuries! But still a good report. Fake ice skating huh? I wanna go!

Haha, good. I've never been to Great Escape before. I plan on going in the future.

no most of the rides had covers on them to protect from snow.

They must have been some HUGE covers

^well the cars at least. there were huge tarps on the seats for the S&S towers.
