It's been a while since I played RCT2, so I dug out the old CD and installed the game on my laptop.

However, there's times when I'm on the road for business that I cannot take the CD with me.

So, is there something I can do so that the CD is not needed to run the game?

If I remember right, one use to be able to copy over all the data files and then open the register and change a line of code to point to the hard drive and not the CD drive so the game thought it didn't need the CD.

So, if that is right, are there instruction on how to do this?

It's called a no-cd crack. It exists, but it's technically illegal and typically virus infected.

Well, if you legally want to play the game without the CD, then downloading it legally from a website would be the best idea. It's only $20, I think the version on Atari is cheaper.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

That's the thing, I already own it on CD and have no reason to purchase it again to have to download it from the WWW to be able to play it without the CD.

I might have to contact Atari and see what they say.

I don't think you'll have a lot of luck with Atari, seeing as it is technically illegal. The disk is required as an anti-piracy measure, and it's generally not good business for a company to help people circumvent something like that. No matter how innocent your intentions may or may not be.

What's the issue with the CD? It sounds like you're doing your business with a laptop. What's so bad about just leaving the disk in the drive? Maybe you could upgrade what ever you're carrying your laptop in to a case that let's you store CDs in it.

Use an .iso file. Their basically CD's and DVD's compiled into a single format. Use Daemon Tools or MagicISO to make a copy of your disk, then mount the file. Daemon Tools and Magic ISO are great for compiling disk images, but as far as running them goes, they can be a bit bulky when using system resources. I use software called WindowsXP Virtual CD Control Panel, its not offical or supported by Microsoft, but its made by the same guys. If you cant find it on google, let me know. Ill upload a copy.

I needed one too the other day when i felt like playing but couldn't find the CD

http://darkskystudios.net/rct2.rar
I found this exe in a torrent, and it works fine for me

it MIGHT fuss if you don't have some data cabs in your rct2 root from the ISO, if it does I can up those too, they're not too big.

I don't think i reliable-patched that EXE yet, so you'll have to if you normally use reliable.
