So, it's pretty damn cold here at the moment, with temperatures as low as -14 degrees Celsius in some parts and -20 degrees Celsius at night. England, Scotland and Wales are currently, and have been since the week before Christmas, as cold or colder than areas within the Arctic circle.

I'm still inmy sleeveless tops or t-shirts, as I really really like the cold, I find it extremely refreshing, but others are beginning to moan. I think the problem is, England is usually very monotonous, in that it's always in the middle, never gets too cold and never gets that hot. So as soon as it's starts to go a little outside the usual everyone begins moaning and being little bitches. I found this picture on the net, it's of the British Isles, yesterday at 11:30AM GMT when the temperature in most parts was around -6 C, with some areas at 0 C and some at -10 C.





I thought it was a pretty cool picture myself, so I thought I'd bost it up here.


What's everyone else in the UK making of the unusually cold weather?

meh, we get colder over here... I actually sounds pretty nice over there... we usually get around 10 nights a year where it is -10 degrees (Fahrenheit) which is equal to around -23* Celsius...

yeah, I know. This is just very unusally weather for this country, everyone here is an absolute pussy. We never get either of the extremes here, cold or hot. For example our hottest temperature ever recorded was only .1 over 100 degrees F. So for it to be as cold as it is here at the moment, for as long as it has been, is very odd and REALLY refreshing [:D]

This country's weather is so very boring, because it's never extreme, so when it is like this, I tend to get very excited haha. When it is hot though, it is a different story. I am very much in a lonely camp I think, when I say that I dislike hot weather. If the temperature gets to about 30 degrees C, I think I'll die, so it's fortunate that I live in England. Perfect temperature for me is between 5C and 17C, that's my ideal operating temperature range . Although I do love it when it's colder!

We got temps ranging from -5 to -15 C, while I can remember winters like this in the past, I still can't get used to the cold.

I'm really a summer person, I'd wish it could be 30*C round the year, but Holland aint California

I'm hating the cold Gouldy, its horrible. 'Cause i'm still home from uni and im out in the country its horrible because i cant get anywhere, and when i drive places the country roads are so dangerous. My car span a few days ago and i nearly poo'd myself.

I'm heading back to uni in Manchester on sunday though, so that will be a different story. When i dont need to drive, snow is AWESOME.

i've skied in -50 degree (Fahrenheit) weather conditions (it was -50 with windchill) and it was pretty epic, although every two runs we (me and my brother) would have to go inside to warm up....we were the only ones on the mountain all day...

im like you gouldy, the cold is fantastic and the winter weather is cool at the moment too as theres lots of fun to be had.

its a rare kyosho blizzard electric snowcat. i have a nitro one too but thats an ongoing project being rebuilt at the moment.

my van is lots of fun on the carpark at work too as its nice and icy.
seriously though so many people including the goverment dont know how to act in the cold weather. the goverment just tells everyone to stay at home and have closed all the schools, 4 inch of snow and the schools get closed. how rubbish is that. another snow fall and im shure the uk will come to a stand still.

I hate this friggin weather! It's even worse being in Scotland cos it's like 4-5 degrees colder than the rest of the country. Also, every school but ours is shut so I'm pretty pissed off...

Who really bails out of a car before a slow crash? That sounds so much more dangerous lol. As you said, just release the brakes and don't touch the gas and your tires will eventually get a bit of traction so you can control yourself until you hit some asphalt or grass on which to stop. Not that difficult.

the coldest temperature I've ever been in is -50C, which is almost the same in Fahrenheit. In my job I get to work in a lot of huge warehouses and storage facilities, and some of those include Giant storage freezers. Most of which are -30C, but at one of the warehouses, the battery room was situated next to the -50C freezer, which was really really good for cooling you down after a period of floor drilling. I want a -50C walk in freezer in my house!

Texas is freakin bipolar. One time it was a -20 winter then a 112 degree summer. Texas weather=wtf.

It's snowing once again, so I went out and had a play

Just got back to Manchester and its a little warmer outside. But as i have a broken heater i am sat with blankets all over me. lol. Barely anyone is back at Uni so i have noone to throw snowballs at. Gutted.

Hahah you strange man. Dont you feel like your nipples are going to drop off going outside topless at the moment!!

We have not had bad weather here in the UK for over 25 years about the same time has the planet started to warm and sea temperatures started to climb, before that though the UK was quiet predictable we used to have cold winters with snow on most Christmas days and nice summers with temps in the high 20's. The last three times the weather got as bad has the recent spell were in 1976/77, 1963 & 1947 with 47 being the worst on record.

I did see some pictures once in a pub called the Snake Pass Inn in Derbyshire were the Landlord and some friends had to dig them selfs out of the snow which had risen to over 15 Feet and that was not drifts either just snow fall, that was the 1947 winter.

Hopefully we will get a good summer this year has everytime there has been a really bad winter in those years then we have had long hot summers in the following year.

Great fun though, we had 12" inches were I live and they have just forecast another 4" for tomorrow.

im not going to try and beat that photo, remeber a few years ago when i outdid another member and that picture became infamous.

the snow is getting deeper and its still very cold, my van is frozen shut so i carnt get into it which means i carnt get to work and my room is toasty warm plus RC cars in the snow is alot of fun.
ill get out tommorrow and go for a walk over chasewater and get some winter pictures i think because this weather is great.

Snow is always nice and fun until the plows and sander trucks come and it gets gross. You guys complaining should enjoy it before it gets all messed up.
