Well apparently the Little Dipper was purchased from kiddieland (it's a jr. woodie) and Chang pieces are on site.

Anyone else predict this is a sinister plot to kill of the Whizzer?

This ride is like the size of a Wildmouse. They don't need to take anything out for it.

I have been going out to SFGAM for over 13, I just don't see them yanking the Whizzer out anytime soon, its too much a part of the parks history. not to mention, isn't it one of if not THE last coaster of its kind? would seem kind of silly to get rid of it...

Zambezi Zinger is running in Mexico I believe, so it's the last of its kind in the USA.

I think the park may have been trying to score points for when the wrath of Whizzer's removal is unleashed. I love Whizzer but I do think it's years are numbered. At it's age, it has to be a maintainance cost nightmare.

Zambezi Zinger has been relocated to Colombia, and is operating under the name Broca. The ride was recently analyzed for structural fatique, and some of the supports/piers need retrofitting, and that's only twelve years after it was relocated and refurbished. The ride is almost forty years old, which is ridiculous for a steel coaster, especially a first generation.

I would imagine Whizzer is going to have to undergo a very similar treatment, and that is where a cost/benefit analysis will be reasoned. Six Flags has a lot of other expenses to take care of, and if they can build a new ride, and have it payed off in a season, I'm sure they will opt for a replacement when that time comes.

Personally, I hope that the last two speed racers live forever, but as an Engineer, I know that won't happen.

If they do "kill" the whizzer, imo its a stupid idea. If anything id work with it. Advertise that its the only one of its kind in northern america! Its uniqueness is unmatched i mean inline seating and a cable spiral lift? Thats nearly unherd of. Im all good with them putting in chang but i sure do hope they keep the whizzer.

It's not a cable lift. Whizzer has a curving hot rail going up the lift that powers motors onboard the train. But yes, it's uniqueness is unmatched.

that kind of advertising only works for people who already know what it is .. the people needed to keep a park alive could care less, build a back and forther or a 10 second launch and back and they'll flock to it.. great america is a capitalist venture.. not a museum ..
