free 3d maker

i need to know of a free program (besides anim8or since the site is down) that i can use to creat 3ds with. anyone know of any? if not any free ones any ones where i can download for like a 30 day trial or something?

have a look at (versions of) amabilis 3D Canvas or metasequoia or Strata 3D

don't have links any more so please search google.

Well there actually are TWO versions of Metasequoia out there.
The free ('SE' i think) and a free demo of the 'professional' version.

you'll hav to GET BOTH to to be able to read AND write '.3ds' as well as '.mqo' (At least this works with me, by switching between both verions...)

BTW: http://www.anim8or.com/ is up again! And there's an update to V0.81 with some bugfixes also.

LOL i have Maya 2000 professional, you can buy it to, it only costs ?????????2000 lol. Lucky enough i got it free from my dads friend who didn't want it anymore. [:D]

Be ashamed of what? I was only giving an example of a good 3D program nothing else, I thought it was funny to say that because maya is extremely expensive, and im just lucky enough to get it for free.

Apart from Maya, there is a free one available called "3D Milk Shape" use a search engine to find this, make sure you read all the tutorials they will help alot. [:)]

But my initial impression of your post was indeed that you were loughing at 'us poor people' trying to find a free program.

In case you'd had written 'i'm lucky to have a copy...' I'd never minded of anything like that. But you actually wrote 'LOL i have Maya 2000 professional, you can buy it to, ...'.

For me THIS sounded rather offending. AND: such a statemanet is contributing NOTHING to the people asking for some advice on FREE programs within this thread.

Instead you tell us (as i would read this): 'I'm better than you because I've got Maya for free...' Why?

Do you now understand why such a post may be VERY misunderstandable to some people???

And elfman is right, the site is back up. I suggest you start with anim8or it is complicated enough for beginners. =] I also don't even get much of it. I can only handle 3ds max 4 a bit

Look I was joking, having laugh, its not if i was meant to offend people, I have helped with this topic, 3D Milk Shape is free, I use it for ultimate ride, and it can be found on the internet, and you can find it via a search engine. I was simply just outlining that I have maya pro 2000, and just stating how much it costs. Im not offending anyone.

yeah, ami8or works great! thanks redunzelizer. i was able to edit the 3ds i needed to, and i am starting to figure out how to make my own. thank you once again.
