At the end of the day, these rappers make more money than all of us, so they must be doing something right.

If you think that that's what all rap is like, you need to listen to more. Those are 3 of the stupidest songs ever released.

Ugh, i hate it when people take all the mainstream bullsh!t as rap, hip-hop, or any other sub genre. ITS MAINSTREAM!!!! Anything youve seen on MTV, Vh1, or anything else, for the most part, isnt music. Theres no message behind it other than "i acquire multiple STDs by the week, have more money than sense, and i buy illegal guns to act tough". Even most enthusiasts dont consider mainstream to be legitimate anymore. Its almost as if the mainstream music has gotten so bad, its formed its own category.

Also, R&B is what todays rap got its roots from. Its a different genre within it's self, while both hip-hop and r&b have influences within each other.

Ut oh educated indie hipster on our hands!

Exactly, the rappers who actually take rap seriously, actually make good music.

And there is no way anyone could say that each genre of music doesn't have any bad points to it. There are some horrible country singers, heavy metal bands, regular metal bands, punk bands, mariachi bands... the list goes on

I still think "I Can Make Your Bed Rock" sounds like inventions and propellers to me. Part of it sounds sporty and gym like.

Anything off of this album is great.

Also, anything off of this album is great too:

Probably my favorite video/song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewc1hixzYPY

I don't really consider those songs in the first post rap, as they cater to what is seen as "popular". I'd consider them "pop", but that's just my opinion.

Ill Communication is actually one of my favorite albums....Can't think of anything as diverse as that album.

Also good:

I like Public Enemy too though I don't know them that well...some day I need to go through one of the albums a bit more.

I meant newer music, not the old stuff from when they actually had something to say and bothered to use musical style.

Arrrghhh! Rap songs are songs are not songs because a song has to be sung, not droned. I personally think that Rap should be nuked. Probably just me, but I'd rather listen to old rock like Guns n' Roses. I'm weird that way.

If there is any type of rap/hip-hop that I REMOTELY like, it would be old-school rap, late 80's early 90's rap, that was awesome stuff. Now they've changed rap to an un-noticeable blur of sex, guns, and hoes. It wasn't about that in the good days of rap and hip-hop. And any new artists that are influenced by old school rap, they're cool with me. And that is if I ever listen to rap. This is an example of new, mixed with old, to make one sick f*cking track:

PS: please don't mind the slightly fugly girl that pops up throught the video!
"Don't be a disability"... yep, still keeping that. :P

Nah, they're over the guns money n hoes thing. Abusing autotune is cooler now apparently.

You're not alone, but we should accept people with another meaning.
In my class I'm an outsider cause I'm a big rock and metal fan (and for chill out Louis Armstrong[;)]).And there's a big pile of dog crap[flush] named Luca in my class that thinks, that I pray to satan[devilish] while I'm listening to AC/DC[approve],but I accept that he's a dumbass[pdie] and there are even a few good rap songs.
