^ He did that. Schools normally start in the last week of August.

Holiday world and SFSTL are so out of the way lol. I'm thinking he's planning on starting at SFGAM (Chicago is easy to fly into internationally) and working his way east, at least it seems that way from his list of parks.

True, I've checked the location of both Holiday World and SFSL and they are both pretty much too far out of the direction. I'll visit those parks probably in a different tour like a Mid / Midwest USA trip. For now i've got the plans so far as written. Starting in Chicago, ending up somewhere around washington [:)]

If you wait until the last week in August, schools start and some parks close on week days the last week of August. June or July would be your best months or the first two weeks in August. April is tornado season here in the USA. We even have a section of the country called "Tornado Alley". So I would avoid coming in April unless you like rain and stormy weather. May can also be cold and rainy. June and July have the best weather. Have a great time at the parks!

Doing a small update about the plans:
We are going to see if we both can get some days off in June. Starting from the 1st from June and ending the trip around 21st of June.

So... Does anyone have more themepark tips for that period of time? [:)]

I don't think KI is too far out of your way, you could try going there.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

It's a 6-7 hour drive from Cedar Point in a south direction. That's way out of my way... Don't forget that I'll be only there for about 3 weeks time and that we'll need also time to travel from park though park.

I'll save KI for my next USA tour that'll probably travel through the mid US.

With themepark tips I mean more stuff like: What is the best way to avoid the crowds in various themeparks?

Yeah if you are going to LC you must go to SFNE...they are so close. I'd also spend half a day at KW and go Waldameer at night for Ravine Flyer.

Best time to visit parks? I'd say August during the summer. On my trip to most of these parks in August of 2008 every park was pretty light crowd wise except on saturdays/sundays. Good luck!

Actually, it's only about 4, and that's me summing up the times from Columbus to each of the parks (1.5 to KI, 2.5 to CP). I'm almost positive there's a more direct route that could probably drop that to about 3 and a half hours.

But the first part of june will probably be a reasonable time to go - a lot of schools don't get out until at least the second week of June, and some universities at the same time.

About four hours sounds right. When I hit CP and KI this summer we did CP one day, made the drive to KI the next morning, and got there right around park opening for a full 12 hours in the park. Holiday world is about another four or five hours from KI so I can understand skipping that if you're not going anywhere else in that direction.

Hmmm... Dates are arranged! 30th May - 17 June! W00t!

Just wondering, maybe is there a state fair somewhere for me to visit on the route? That would be awesome [:)]

Major fairs aren't really big in the north east, though you may come across one or two smaller ones. Don't expect Oktoberfest or a midwest type thing though.

Aww... That's too bad. It would have been awesome for me to stop by on a state fair. Especially since there are some sick rides traveling around the states that you don't see across the seas. (Zipper, etc)

Edit:
Any idea where I could find some dates and locations for possible fairgrounds on my route? [lol] I did a quick search but I didn't came further than the mayor state fairs.

The "Great Allentown Fair" is sort of like the state fair in PA. Too bad its in late August/early September.
