Alright, so I'm going to buy a Garmin in the next week or so, because TomTom's look bulkier than them, Garmin's look a lot sleeker, IMO. So, I'm going to be needing some advice from you fellow CoasterCrazy'ers/GPS users.

I've searched online and looked in the stores and found a few good ones on sale, but can't decide, so this is what I need help on.

@Best Buy:

Nuvi 255W - $119 w/ 1,000 way points

Nuvi 255 - $99

*Nuvi 1250 - $119 (Heading towards this one the most)

Compare: CLick

@Wal*Mart:

Nuvi 205 Portable GPS - $95.54 (This is the only one that says "portable" at the end. Anyone know what the difference is?)

Info: Click

Questions:

-What are way points, and is 1,000 a lot?
-Is there any major problems with the Garmin brand?
-Are these good enough deals, that I should snag one?

I have the Garmin Nuvi 255W and I am very happy with it. So much so that I bought another one (included traffic) for my sister for Christmas to replace her older Garmin 355 for the same price I paid for mine without traffic. I have not had any problems with my Garmin GPS unit and I know several other people who own them and they are
very satisfied also.

As to which one to get it depends on your needs. I preferred the wide screen unit. It had everything I wanted and could not justify paying more for something I might rarely use. No matter which one you choose I think you will be happy with it.

Here is the definition of waypoint from Garmin's web site:
Waypoints are locations or landmarks worth recording and storing in your GPS. These are locations you may later want to return to. They may be check points on a route or significant ground features. (e.g., camp, the truck, a fork in a trail, or a favorite fishing spot). Waypoints may be defined and stored in the unit manually, by taking coordinates for the waypoint from a map or with the unit at the location itself, giving it a name, and then saving the point. Waypoints may also be put into the unit by referencing another waypoint already stored, giving the reference waypoint, and entering the distance and compass bearing to the new waypoint.
If you are going to make a scene, be seen.

I got a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx for hiking and geocaching and I love the thing. It's not the thing for auto navigation (small screen, no voice instructions) but now that I've tried a Garmin I'm going to replace our TomTom with a Nuvi pretty soon.
Be sure you're not looking in a mirror before you start pointing fingers.

I think I'm going to go with the Nuvi 1250. It's got 6 millions P.O.I., traffic & weather updates, text to speech, WAAS, car locator, pedestrian mode (which will be great for downtown K.C. & The Plaza), & 1 year labor & parts warranty. Although it's got the smaller screen, I like it that much more, plus it's only $119.

Thanks for the help guys!
