Yeah I noticed that too. We're covering deflection curves in my structures class right now so I thought that was neat to see. Looks like a pretty small deflection for how far apart the supports are on this thing though, there's a lot of weight being held up there.

A113, on the right side you can see the track is bending too, it's the whole system that's bending since it's essentially all one piece. Steel bends, and is extremely strong because of it. I'm sure the guys at Intamin could tell you exactly how much deflection they expected to see there, it's not a mistake.

A113, don't use the term fail to describe someone elses activities when it is you yourself who is failing.

The catwalk is attached at its base to the same truss spine structure as the track, if one is deflecting like that, so is the other. Not only that, but you can clearly see the track following the same curve of deflection. Get your eyes tested.

I did see it bend, but I wasn't really sure if I was just seeing things. Thanks for correcting me.

they probably built it arc'ed slightly in the opposite direction to allow it to compensate. But, I honestly wouldn't be surprised to feel the lift waving a good amount in the wind up there....

I'm smoking dope again. I'll email ya a joint.

Interesting. I didn't see that initially. The turn out of the 1st loop into the next two on Viper, SFMM, the track flexes out. You can see it standing in queue. I'd go with the wind idea too. Hope they transplant some trees in the open areas of the ride. That would be nice.

There is no way that thing is gonna be staying still at the top, even in the slightest breeze. I love steel structures and the way they move. Especially really tall cranes.

I am going on monday! So i'll try to get some pics but i might not... I am very excited to ride this beast! Also, that lift is really moving fast! The ride is very well paced though, it seems like it keeps its pace through out the whole ride up to the trims which doesnt look like it slows it down that much.

Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! THAT LOOKS CRAAZZYYYY!!! And of course it bends! DO YOU REAALLY EXPECT THEM TO BE ABLE TO PEICE THOSE TRUSSES TOGETHER SOOO TIGHTLY THAT THEY DONT EVEN GIVE A LITTLE???

Wow this looks sooooo much better than MF even with the restraints. And he definately comes out of his seat, and with that G-Force...

Those restraints im thinking will have a better support to keep them from getting tighter.

I'd be amazed if there wasn't some deflection in the structure, especially given that they had to support the lift hill more while building it.

Looks awesome, knocks seven shades of poop out of thirteen

They only had to support the lift more when it was being constructed because the structure was that of an arch, and until the top was put on It would not be stable. I would not be surprised if this is the most structurally sound track built to date.

the load of the arch is passed parrallel to the track down the arch structure, however, the main part of the lift hill, still has a weight, and that acts towards ground, so it will still slightly distort, well within the material's limits.

No. No it is not lens distortion. It's a steel structure, if it didn't look like that, I'd be worried that global physics had changed. When we saw the 3D model I was expecting it to look like this, it's just very cool to see.

There is clearly lens distortion in the pic. The outside rail is curved horizontally as well.

The track does bend; however, I have to agree with Freddie that's some pretty clear lens-distorting. You will usually get that on most of Robb's POV's.

I rode this bad boy yesterday and I have to it is my favorite ride!
The first drop is Epic and the first turn makes most if not everyone come close to blacking out. The 2nd, hill there is so much ejector air and the transitions are amazing!!!! If you ride there are only a few head choppers but you can prevent those by anticipating the changes. The trim brakes kill the ejector air on the remaining part of the ride but they are truly necessary otherwise people would lose there necks on the final transition, which even with the trim its a little rough. other than that it is my new favorite ride and would not be surprised if it beats out Millennium Force and Superman. It was EPIC!!!!
