They only had to support the lift more when it was being constructed because the structure was that of an arch, and until the top was put on It would not be stable. I would not be surprised if this is the most structurally sound track built to date.
the load of the arch is passed parrallel to the track down the arch structure, however, the main part of the lift hill, still has a weight, and that acts towards ground, so it will still slightly distort, well within the material's limits.
