Can you get tools to create cartextures. Can anyone help me with that. How do you make your own? Thanks!

I use Adobe Photoshop, but that's not necessarily a cost effective solution if all the image editing you're doing is .png files for No Limits car textures . . .

Macromedia/Adobe Fireworks does fairly well depending on your needs.

And most people who have Photoshop have their own cost effective solutions, if you know what I mean.

You may be able to try GIMP (open source image editor) but I haven't tried it and can't confirm that it's able to work with transparent PNG's.

Once you do get an image editor that can handle transparent png's, use the templates provided in the cartextures folder (duh) and back them up if you have poor file management skills.

That page is mostly outdated. Just use the cartextures provided by NL; there's no need at all to use special templates. (And obviously none of those templates are usable now.) Also, just about no one uses .tga's anymore. The .png format is supported much better by most programs. (And from what I remember, you need to do some strange trick in photoshop to get transparent .tga's to work; everytime I saved as a .tga the transparency was lost.)

You need an alpha-channel. It's pretty easy...

Gimp works pretty well...it's hard to figure out at first, but once you have it figured out, it's just about as good as photoshop, except it's free
