2010 NoLimits Tournament Round 3 ?????? ??????Imitator 302??????

Image

Welcome to the third round of the tournament. Once again your are asked to build a high-speed airtime monster.

Template can be downloaded in the exchange:
http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_excha ... ?tid=16809

The rules:
The imperial measurements are only estimates, the judges will use the metric measurements when checking the tracks for rule violations.

You must use the Intamin Giga trackstyle.
The track and supports cannot go outside the pink lines and track cannot go inside the red lines (supports can).
The station??????s track must be entirely inside the area with the Xs.
The track??????s rails must go over 91.9 meters / 301.5 feet precisely once, but it cannot go over 92.2 meters / 302.5 feet. See the picture for clarification.
Image
The maximum track length is 1500 meters / 4920 feet.
You must use 2 trains with 7 to 9 cars.
The maximum transport speed on transport, station and brake sections is 15 kph / 9.3 mph.
The maximum lift speed on the lift is 25 kph / 15.5 mph.
The train can go over 75 kph / 47 mph ONLY ONCE! So once you go over it, you can go under it, but not over again.
You can have only 1 lift and no launches.

Scenery, 3ds and terraforming are allowed, inversions are not allowed.

Some other things:
Do yourself a favor and do not build your track an inch from the template boundaries, it doesn??????t take much to accidentally go an inch over the boundary. The same goes for the other rules, build with a margin.
While there are no G-limits, it would be unsafe to go over -1.5/+4.5 Vertical and +/-1.5 Lateral.

Sending In:
Your track must be received by contests@coastercrazy.com at 11:59 PM May 12th at the latest. Do not test your luck by sending your track in on the last second and risk missing the deadline by some connection malfunction. You may send in your track as many times as you want. Do not forget to include your (user)name and the color of your match-up-pair.

Rating:
Every track will be judged on three criteria: Technical, Adrenaline and Originality. Each track will receive a mark for each criteria, the final mark will be the average of the criteria marks.
The technical mark will focus on the smoothness the ride, the quality of the supports and safety (E-stop/tunneltest).
Adrenaline is all about speed, G??????s and the sensation of speed. The more exciting the rides, the better the score.
Originality focuses on how original the ride and elements are. Pulling of crazy new elements in a never-seen-before layout will get you a higher score and a track that has nothing but airtime hills.

Both judges will rate all the tracks and discuss the results. When both judges agree with each other, the results will be posted.

Yes, track that is banked 155 degrees with a 155 degree angle to the horizontal is considered 'up-side-down'.

I'd didn't work out, I tried.

Correct, as soon as you drop from the lift and the speed goes over 47 mph, all is well. If you then go under 47 mph, still no problems. But after that you cannot go over 47 mph again.

If you do a 3ds spine, is it counted as track and cannot go into the red shapes?
Also, can scenery go outside the template?

3ds will be counted as how it is used. Spine 3ds will have to follow the track rules while 3ds-supports have to follow the same rules as the usual supports. 3ds used as scenery can go anywhere.

As for the heigh limit, it seemed like fun to have everybody use almost exactly the same height. And besides, paying a little bit attention to the rules when building shouldn't be too much trouble.
I choose 301.5-302.5 because it has a rounded value both in metric and imperal (302 feet and 92 meters)

You say inversions are not allowed.

Is your inversion rule still the same? Banking over 155 degrees is an inversion?

Not another I30x coaster... Seen now already too much of that ride in NL, and now I've got to build one on my own...

Oh well, I suck at Hypercoasters anyhow. Ianko probably will win this round against me... [lol]

I like the idea, but why didn't you just make two height boundary lines so it would be easier to place a track in the mesh of the 91.9 and 92.2 m.
It's too close of a margin to not have it clearly marked in my opinion. I feel like it could potentially cause controversy this round.

He has 2 boundaries. But the 2nd one is a bit unclear in the image...

I dont understand the reasoning behind making us hit a certain track height between a given space of 0.3m. Its kinda pointless, imo.

Yeah, but why wouldn't the height requirements be anywhere from 302ft to 303ft?

Also, we can continue our ride over 47 mph, its just once it dips under, we cant go back over, right?

^ seems like it, I think that is to try and get you to do some good low to the ground speed elements, in order for you to prolong the time you can be at over 47mph for. And to try and get some very long, rather than tall, air hills.

Should produce some good stuff, I think!

Because he decided to make that the limit. It doesn't have to have a point, he is in charge.

I messed around with a few possible layouts last night. It's going to be tough to fit an exciting ride into this template while keeping it under 1500m, but hopefully that makes for some interesting tracks.

Last round I made an unofficial entry. However, this round you guys won't see anything from me, for two reasons:

1. This contest will most likely just produce a bunch of I305 clones, which isn't going to be much fun.

2. I already have a giga coaster under construction. Rides this size are very time-consuming to support, and so working on two at once would just be too much.
