A small theme park is looking for a thrilling, unique coaster to add to its woodie and SLC, but only has a tiny space available: a 100 ft by 300 ft plot of flat, empty land surrounded by walkways. Your challenge is to build the best coaster you can in this space.
The deadline for submission is May 31st. This gives you over a month to build something.
Download the template here:
http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_excha ... ?tid=16831
Submissions must be uploaded as either nltrack or nlpack files, and it must be stated clearly in the track name that your track is for this contest.
There are no prizes. However, I will select first, second, and third place winners, and name them in my signature for at least one month.
Rules:
1. Measurements to ensure that the track stays inside the height, length, and width limits will use english units. Before submitting, check that your track complies using english units.
2.Any track style can be used, including wooden coasters.
All track and supports must fit within a 100 ft by 300 ft rectangle. This includes footers but does not include station buildings, fences, and lines.
3.Track vertices may not exceed 100 feet in height, but supports may.
4. The track must include at least one inversion (defined as any point where track banking exceeds 155 degrees), unless it is a wooden coaster or hybrid.
5. The track may include lift hills, launches, or any combination of the above, with any speed.
6. The station must be between 2.5 and 10 feet in height, and may not exceed 10 feet from the edges of the template.
7. 3ds are permitted, as is tree addition. Terraforming is not permitted.
8. Failure to comply with the above rules will result in disqualification.
Ratings:
Technical score: 1 to 10 points, including:
Track smoothness: Up to 2 points.
Support quality and structural integrity: Up to 4 points.
Safety of g-forces: Up to 2 points. If vertical Gs remain between -1.5 and 4.5, and lateral Gs remain between -1.5 and 1.5, a score of 2 will be given. If vertical forces remain between -2 and 5, and lateral Gs remain between -2 and 2, a score from .5 to 1.5 will be given. If forces exceed these ranges, a score of 0 to 0.25 will be given. Forces will be tested in front and back seats on both sides of the train, ridden at 25% speeds.
Tunnel test: 0 points for a failure, 1 point for a pass. Tunnel intersections of tracks on the same block, or otherwise where riders could not reasonable come into contact with track, supports, or other riders, as judged by me, are permissible.
E-stop: 0 points for a failure, 1 point for a pass.
Adrenaline: Up to 10 points. Remember, I like airtime, inversions, and fast pacing. I do not like loss of pacing towards the end of a ride, faux airtime hills, or painfully high forces.
Originality: Up to 10 points. I will not rate based on accuracy to manufacturer style. I will rate based on original layouts and elements.
