See, I bought my computer (a pc) for about $600 with my money from working. Why the hell would I want to spend $2000 some Ishit product when I can make probably two months of truck payments and Insurace, My phone bill, oh don't forget gas, and some can going to paying off college. Yeah I don't feel the need to spend that on a computer thats is just good looking. oh, and yeah 3 pounds more is not that much, get over it. Try hanging 8x12x1/2 sheets of drywall on a a ceiling and get back to me on that.

People like me who have a Mac aren't stupid. Do you really think someone would pay so much more just for one better thing? There's much more than just looks.

I'm not calling mac owners stupid. I'm just saying it's more sensible to buy a cheap pc then a mac, for the common Joe. Unless your job requires something else, I just don't see a point.

...like paying a huge mark-up to have somebody else handle all the messy technical details. Users are given a simplified, safer experience at the expense of computational capabilities. Mac owners aren't stupid, they're just generally in non-technical fields. For instance, when I'm talking with someone about CFD, the likely order of platforms being discussed is Linux followed by Windows. Mac never crosses anyone's mind because it's too limited to be useful.

The great thing about being able to make your own decisions is that you don't have to spend money on things you don't want to, and you didn't. You didn't want to buy a more expensive computer, so you didn't buy one. The problem with your statement is that you are degrading a product simply because if you bought one, you couldn't live the way you want to. Someone else with your exact same fiscal situation might decide to buy a Macbook because they really want one, and accept or simply not care about the economic consequences. Don't insult something simply because you wouldn't buy it, or it's not right for you.

Weight and size with a laptop are important, but as I said before, they only have importance for some people. Those that travel often on airplanes look for lighter, thinner, and smaller laptops because they are easier to pack, and easier to carry. For others size and weight don't matter because they never take their laptops anywhere. There are costs associated with putting similar performance levels in smaller, lighter packages, which is why those kinds of products are more expensive. If someone doesn't need those attributes in a computer, they don't have to buy one that has them.

The most common argument here involves cost and the Apple bashers use that as their primary argument. "Why should I have to pay more money for a computer that does similar things to my PC," they say. When it comes down to it, the truth is that you only have to pay as much as you want to pay for something, and you only need to buy something that you have the need or perceived need for. Why be against people who buy Apple products for spending their money the way they want to spend it?

But that's the reason I won't buy one, because I could not afford to. If I bought one, I would just be adding on to the debt that I already have. I would be in more trouble then I already am, in which case, I would have to change my lifestyle.

If I'm going to buy a new computer, honestly, I'm not looking for a "light" computer. For example. I was at best buy the other day and I was looking in the computer section when I came across the MacBook air thing. It is ridiculously small and fragile. I don't want products that are just getting smaller and smaller. Yes, I am one of the people that weight is not important to, but I still don't see a point to buying something simply because it is smaller and lighter, but that is me, and my opinion.

And as for it being expensive, it is. And I'm not against people who buy apple products; I am against apple as a whole. I also don't judge someone simple because they bought a quite expensive computer. My statement was about MY situation, I never said anything about the people who buy the products, just that I don't like apple.

400 dollars matters to many people. You'd think they could lower the prices a bit with the child labor and all wouldn't you?

No it does the exact same things.

Because they're stupid.

An Apple computer is the Hummer H2 of the computer world. You're better off with a Toyota.

Anyone here wants to team up with me and create Cherry or Watermelon or Pear and make pc's paint them shiny, add a fruit logo and sell it for 2-3 times more than the cost of an equally powerful PC? We'll be rich! I mean, look how apple does with 5% of the market share. [:D]

I think what many of you fail to see is that Apple products are a great combination of form and function. For some people "form" doesn't matter as much, but for many it does. Where some manufacturers thrive off of making high performance products, apple tries to balance performance with packaging. They sell so many products 1). because people like how they work, and 2). because they look so cool and futuristic. I used to be anti apple back in the day, but frankly I really like their products now. If you have a problem with apple products selling so well and your claim of people getting ripped off, then stop bitching and start your own company or something.

Their iPods are the most feature lacking MP3 players on the market in their price range. Their computers are extremely difficult to upgrade. How is this great function? If your version of "great" means "limited in scope in order to idiot proof" then I guess you're right.

So a pretty case makes it worth 400 dollars more?

I call it the greatest example of marketing over comparison shopping.

So I should start my own car company if I think Jeeps are shitty?

Like I said before Apple products are the Hummer of the computer world. Take off the fancy shell and brand name and you've just got a much less expensive Trailblazer.

i like my handheld electronics built solid. i've seen many iphones survive 150+ falls and still work, but nearly every other phone has broken into many pieces.

i've bought non ipod mp3 players in the past, cheap, but generally pieces of poop. i've bought pc's in the past, also cheap and pieces of poop. my dad just bought a brand new quad-core asus desktop, loud piece of poop. i've given both sides a try and mac is what i like. i realize there are good pc's out there, but it just seems like a big gamble of my money to me for something i know i'd like less.

What's funny is that I have dropped my iPod Touch many times, and hard, too. But I drop it and it lands on a carpeted surface at a slow and softer landing, and I now have a cracked screen, which needs a new digitizer now.

That was totally unnecessary.

Overall, I'm pretty sick of the whole "Mac vs. PC" thing. I personally don't care much for macs, and I get what I want with a PC. I mainly don't like macs because they are overpriced, and they can't play poop for games either. Basically, they aren't built for what I want in a PC.

Have you tried spending the same amount you spent on the Mac on a PC or has the idea that spending more money yields a better product not crossed your mind?

Apple = 5% of the market share

Enough said.
