Why do most of the roller coasters I download on this site have so many verticies. I just want to know. What are they used for.

Most of them are for creating flanges for the supports (two right next to each other). The other ones are probably to make the supports look correct (beams going through beams, opposed to meeting strangely at one endpoint).

I think he's referencing the track ones? It's because people use tools, like Newton 2, to generate tracks.

Ahh, track nodes, what was I thinking...

Yes, the tools will calculate the banking to a very high degree, even every meter if you so choose.

track nodes? you mean these?

Or vertices? Use the correct term next time because when I see "nodes" I think supports. The correct thing. Not a vertex. AyTrane, you were right.

There is a tool called the "automatic heartline generator" (abbreviated AHG). Do a search for it and a link should pop up.

WARNING: Actually read the readme that comes with it.

you mean it's like this:

That's done with a program called Newton 2. You can download it here:

That is also done with fvds, or elementary, or ahg

Not elementary or FVD. Those don't really produce an outrageous amount of vertices. Only AHG and Newton do. On the other hand, it's basically required that you run an elementary or FVD element through AHG before declaring it done, so I suppose that indirectly, yes, those do produce that many vertices...
