Lately I have been making a ride that combines the thrill of flying with the sheer speed and low-to the ground twists of Furious Baco. Here is the result:

Image
The layout

Image
The 81 MPH launch

Image
Flying under the launch at around 70 MPH

Image
Lie to fly

Image
Launching into the first turn

Image
A nice transition

Image
An airtime hill and inversion into the brakes

Image
Guess what this is

Image
Yes, in the turn after the brakes there is one final inversion.

Image
High speed barrel roll!!!

So yeah, that's about it for now. Comments/questions are welcome.

Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

Are the G's ok? I can just see really high lats on the lie-to-fly's at that high of a speed. Other than that it loks like a really cool idea. i've thought about doing something similar before, but I never had enough inspiration.

the lats are around 1.4 and the gs never surpass 3 momentarily and 2.6 sustained.

Do you want him to make the turns tighter so people break their backs?

imo It is a more organized layout than Furius baco's [lol].

1.4 is, imo, pushing it...but do what you want. And I agree with A113 on the layout. At 81 mph, big turns that appear weak could be reasonably forceful, and 2.6 G on a flyer is PLENTY.

^ and 3.8 gs Deceleration is over the top. (not pointing any fingers or any thing)[;)]

^^^Or he could slow the launch and maybe make a few more things than just low turns (in the beginning)

How is 1.4 pushing it? That amount of force very reasonable. Its basically just laying on your side and taking 4/10 of your bodyweight and laying on top of you. Wrestlers pull more lateral g's than the MOST intense roller coasters do.

Yes, but you also have people who do not have fat and muscle taking most of the impact. It is also more that it is unrealistic for a flyer.

My flyer is not for fat people. they can go next door and drink a 100 oz soda or something. If anyone wants to ride it at any time I would be more than happy to email it to them. I love feedback regardless of what building stage I'm on.

If you really think the gs are pushing it I could slow the launch down to around 78.

I am just not a lateral G fan. Except when they're sustained towards the outside of a turn, I find them uncomfortable and annoying. ^^^Also, 4/10 of your body weight is like 50-55 pounds. Laying on your side with 50 pounds on top of you is most definitely uncomfortable.

Oh, the laterals are not sustained if that's what you were worried about.

In fact, I was pointing out that I much prefer sustained lats over spike lats! Lats during transitions are the ones that bother me...haha

Think of it as happy pain.

Edit: Would it be safe for the seats to fold back durring the launch? I just thought it would be cool...

If you're getting 1.4 lats i would almost CERTAINLY slow that launch, especially if those lats are spikes as opposed to being sustained... 1.4 is a lot. Get it down to like 0.8 or less if you can. The ride will still be exciting at a slower pace. If you want to keep the pacing up you could always trim it at a good location before that(those) lat spike(s)occur(s).

Launch speed reduced to 75 MPH. Sustained Gs reduced to 2.4, Lat spikes reduced to 1.1.

I was thinking about maybe theming it after Super Mario Galaxy... Pehaps have it go through a launch star, star bit rings, and orbit a small planet?

Isn't there any way to practically eliminate lat G's altogether? I seem to recall a rather beautiful thing called Newton. UNless this is handbuilt, in which case, good luck! [:P]

This is built using newton, and the lats in the center of the train are very low. It is only on the end seats where the forces are high.
