Well, I'm attempting my first ever (that I'm posting that I thought was reasonable decent), NoLimits roller coaster and I thought no better to build Intimidator at Carowinds. I was invited to media day for it, got a spot in the auction (last seat, car, 3rd train), and went to Opening Day. I'm thinking I know this ride in and out, but I'm going to need help. First off, I need help designing the car texture, I can't seem to get it down. I'm using SketchUP pro for the station and transfer area, should I use something else?

If anyone could help me with the 3ds and the objects, I'll definitely be appreciated! I'm not big on doing the scenery, but I feel I should go all out on this ride.

Use Newton 2

Oh okay, well, I pretty much have the track 85-90% finished, I just need to fix a few bumps and fix up the turn-around after the brakes. I'm probably having the most trouble with the transfer, station, and car texture though, but I'm saving those for last.

Something tells me he already had his track mostly done before he posted this thread...[lol]

But coastereric, if this is your first NL coaster, handbuilding is not going to be on par with the trackwork required to make a decent recreation, so i recommend starting on a realistic coaster of your own design, and use feedback from that to improve your styling, shaping, and trackwork. I guarantee you that a recreation will not be received warmly as a first coaster, unless you're some sort of NL prodigy. Of course, your other option is to make the track with Newton2 (this requires starting over), which will probably make it a much better track. IMO, the easiest way to learn Newton (or any force-based design program) is with a recreation, because you can look at how shaping is done in the real world, and replicate it easier than if you were using it as a "guideline".

Boneplaya is right - I've been working on it for about a month now, but I've been a bit lazy so I haven't posted anything on here at all.

Thanks for the advice, Bone, I'm thinking about maybe re-doing it, but I've never used Newton 2 before and it feels kind of complicated using it.. I've done some earlier models and they weren't too bad.

I'm sorry about the double post, I'm new to Newton 2 and I'm working on it on there, but I'm struggling with it. I may try to re-do the entire ride or release two versions.

Newton is a lot easier making top parts of the hills, but I think I like the design portion from NL a little better.

Obviously, it is your choice, so do what you want! But above all, do NOT switch between handbuilding and Newton on the same ride, especially frequently. That's probably the worst thing you can do (with the possible exception of brake runs/stations).

I'll keep that in mind, thanks! The worst possible thing happened just a little bit ago, well, not worst.. But it was bad, I messed up the lift hill ascent and crown so I'll need to spend time adjusting all of it. Oh well..

I need a little help here, I don't usually include screen shots while I'm designing it, but I wanted to give you guys an update. How do I go about doing so?

I'm sorry about the double post again guys, but I finished the crown of the hill. I was away on vacation (Dollywood and Cedar Point) a few days ago. I'm back on the project, but I need help. How should I go about posting pictures from the editor?

Well.. Pictures will be coming up, I just returned from vacation. I'm having trouble adjusting the lift, but I'm going to keep it like that for right now. I'm still trying to smooth out the track.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm finishing up the track work (primarily the lift and the second hill), forces, breaking, and then supports. But I'll definitely use that picture, thank you!
