..or a joke? Yes, I have read and reread the FAQ and related info. Is this new "1 download per day" here to stay for good?

Honestly I am pretty disappointed. I've been a member here since the dark ages and this was always my favorite NL site due to the lack of strict rules and the rather satirical community. Haha I'm not saying I'm going to lose any sleep, just looking for some 411 on this.

You do realize that this will mean even less people rate rides? If you are going to do something of this sort i would recommend putting in the rating limit and lifting it for premiums etc.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

I really dislike it too. I'd rather be able to ride things to enjoy myself and rate every now and then.

Honestly it's not a good idea. Many people here are too young to use paypal (really) so it would make more sense to find another way.

slosprint does raise a good point. I know the whole money situation probably sucks though. I'm on a tight budget too come to think of it. I certainly need that $25 dollars. Whatever penny I can find to gas my damn car up is royal ocean...

I am working on this right now. More information will be given once I have plugged the holes in the coding.

Also, what about unofficial contests? will the judge be given special downloading privileges while he or she (lol... unlikely) has to judge all of the participants?

Your parents/guardians can.

I really hate that it has come to this, but we talked about this for I think the past year how to solve this problem and this seems the only way out that includes keeping the site open.

12 year olds shouldn't be on my site as it's against the signup policy. VIP's and Premium Members should no longer be experiencing this message and I am working on creating a third class to bypass this download limit.

I personally think that's too much.. limit it down to two. It's not as extreme as one and most people download 3 on average.

Scratch that, 5 a week is the best I can think of.

I think 5 is a bit high if your goal is to make people feel the need to spend money. I know I hardly ever download 5 per day... if you find this the best course of action to take I would recommend two or three per day. This allows you to still make money, yet allows people who aren't really interested in paying a fair amount of daily content.

We'll keep it currently on 5 downloads. The newcoming people who download tons of coasters but never are active on the forum or with rating on the exchange will be limited by this currently. [:)]

All I'm wondering now is... If the download limit is reached. Is it blocked for the IP or for the account? If possible change it to IP so that the newcomers can't avoid the limit by creating tons of inactive accounts...

It's check by 3 means. I'm not telling how it is checked so people don't try and break through all 3 ways.

It's a very real possibility, currently standing at 100% chance of happening.

We need to raise $600 by August to keep the site alive. Doesn't matter if its donated or profit.

And are you going to give people their money back if you don't make the deadline?

Most certainly. This is a last ditch effort to make this site self sustainable. If it can't become self sustainable, it'll be shut down and anything refunded that needs to be refunded.
