Hey guys. I just got a new MacBook Pro for college next year. It runs some standard programs like Word, Excel, etc. better than my Sony that uses Vista and I like iMovie much better than Movie Maker. I know there used to be issues with NoLimits with Mac that they could only run certain versions of it...but I see that version 1.71 is available for purchase for Mac which is the most updated version. Basically I'm wondering if anyone uses NL on Mac and if so can it do everything it can on my Sony? My Sony's internet card went bad and I can no longer access the web on my Sony for the time being, so rather than jump btween the two, I wanna knnow if my Mac will be able to do everything that my Sony could with it. Also, is Newton 2 available for Mac and if so can it do everything it could on my Sony? And things like the Terraformer and Track Packager etc. Can those all work on a Mac to the same performace and abilities now?

Anyone who can help thank you in advance. I ovbiously would like to not spend $30 for a game I have already unless I can use it the same way. Thanks Again!

Edit: I am correct in saying that Newton 2 is not available for Mac? Or is that wrong?

i have a macbook pro and it seems the same to me! I dont think any tools[ahg/newton etc] are available for mac[not from what i searched anyway] but you wont need to spend another $30. I emailed NL saying i recently got a mac yada yada and they gave me a code and it ended up only being $15

Too bad their aren't many tools that "just work" on a mac.

Yea I'll say...I'm gonna hold off until I get back from vacation next week to see if I can get my Sony fixed so I can use it again. If not I suppose I'll just have to get it for my Mac.

i have a mac, and must say the NL editor interface is much sexier than the windows. i have had no problems running NL on my 24'' iMac, in fact the fps stay above 80 for most of the time on the highest quality setting. i did notice that there is no quality 3 on the anti-aliasing setting, just 1 and 2. The only major con for NL with mac is that there are no tools like newton or elementary made for mac, but you can always run bootcamp. another difference in mac and pc is that shortcuts are much different. that was probably the hardest thing for me to get used to when i changed over.

If I chose to run bootcamp with Windows so I could use Newton or any other programs that are PC only...would I need to get the Windows version of NoLimits then since I would need to be in "PC mode" to use them? I never put newton on my Sony before it crashed but I can still use NoLimits but for now I cannot access internet on it (I think it's like a card or something that went bad) so I cannot get Newton on it. I havn't used NL in a few months and really wanted to put Newton on it once it crashed. If I can fix my Sony it's a non-issue and I can just do it on that. But if I can't fix it, would I have to get the Mac or Windows version of NL for Bootcamp?

NL on Mac works just as well as on Windows (actually, NL was built for Macs initially). Unfortunately, you won't be able to use some third-party applications such as track packager or Newton 2.

You CAN dual-boot through bootcamp, however.

SO if I use bootcamp...do I need to get the Windows version of NL then to use all of the third party software?

Umm, you might. Not sure. Don't you already have the Windows version though?

Yes but it's one my Sony...and unless I can get internet back on that one...I have no way of getting Newton, Elementary, etc. on it. My Mac I can use bootcamp but I'm not sure if I need the Mac or Windows version to run. I would imagine the Windows version since the third party programs and Windows only.

There's actually a pretty nice program thats better than Bootcamp, called VMware Fusion. It allows you to run Windows and Leopard simultaneously. You might want to check into that.

There are other programs similar too Bootcamp for free that I heard work better but I'm not sure if they can support programs like Newton.

I looked into using the old link and since I got it so long ago the link is expired so I probably have to just rebuy it so oh well. I don't mind because I use it so much.
