Taxing sugar is probably the stupidest move one could make. First, sugar is in almost everything, and second, it would be taxation without proper representation. You know what that led to about 234 years ago.

The biggest problem in food additives is that we use high fructose corn syrup as a sugar replacement in almost every food. President Nixon authorized it to be used in food everywhere because food prices were fluctuating greatly, and he wanted them to stabilize. At the time that wouldn't have been possible if we kept real sugar in our foods. However, high fructose corn syrup has been found to be far worse for your body than natural sugar. Comprised of 55% fructose and 45% glucose, it may have the same caloric value as something made with natural sugar, but the fructose does not trigger an insulin response which, in turn, causes your body to store that as fat without even metabolizing it.

^ What the hell are you talking about? "taxation with out proper representation" ? In this sarcastic "Sugar Tax" scenario, does the U.S. Government simply cease to exist for you or something? Now, if you're too apathetic to vote, you can't really complain about the representation you're receiving being proper or not. It's up to you to elect that proper representation . . . I think we solved that problem about 234 years ago.

Clearly, "We need to tax sugar or something" is sarcasm, but if the government did tax sugar we're defiantly well represented by our congressmen, senators, and governors on the state level, and then by congressmen, senators, and president on the federal level. I think there are enough people you can complain to if you don't like the tax.

Taxing IMPORTED sugar (amongst many many other things) might actually be good, nothing more American than that actually . . .

The point of all this is to get up off the couch, good bye . . .

It doesn't matter what you tax, the government will need your money, and they will get it the one way or another.

The only semi successful thing at losing weight in this country so far has been the Nintendo Wii. I say there should be a government program to give out Wiis to obese children, so they will be in their basements where we don't have to look at them.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.
